What are the specification of the Hercules H2 tips; 12mm diameter and medium hardness?
What's about the O'Min layered pig skin tips which are supposed to be manufactured by Talisman? Any experience how they compare to the Talisman Pro soft tips?

That's what i've just put on my cue. It started off life as an 11mm tip but i trimmed it down to fit flush on my 9mm cue. Previously i had tried a 9mm Talisman S soft and it was far too hard and i miss-cueing when playing deep screw and extreme side, but this o-min is fantastic, as i would imagine a talisman would be if i'd used an 11mm to start with.Live for the day you're in, tomorrow is just something that may happen

I bought a few of these O'mins, and have been using one for a couple of weeks.
They are slightly harder than the talismans in my opinion, but still hold the chalk well and are a good tip. Very consistent and capable of playing all shots. i.e. Screwing down to the pack from the yellow off one cushion no problem.
I would love to find a layered tip very slightly softer than a talisman soft, that would be perfect from my point of view!

I,ve been using Talisman (S) for around 3 Months in all. First of all on my old cue (Handmadecues Kippax near leeds) for around 4 weeks.
At first I thought that it felt like playing with a marble on the tip of my cue (ADR147 quote) but after it was well played in about 3 - 6 hours of practice/playing it felt great. To get it to hold chalk better I just press a home made file into it very softly (just rolling it over not fileing) to ruffen it up very slightly. By doing this it seems to open up the pores in the leather?
I retipped my new Trevor White cue with a Talisman around 8 weeks ago and I'm just as happy with results!
The good thing about them is they don't lose their shape through strikeing the ball.
ADR147 said that they really are nice tips and he wasn't having me on!
all the best,

Are you all kidding...Talisman tips good???
I tried a few different tips and this talisman is by far the worse tip I have ever used in my life...why not get some cement and stick that on your cues and I will charge you 8 quid or whatever...Do you really like hitting the ball with a brick that much?
The same goes for all these O min or so called super tips...
Get an elkmaster compress it, stick it on and shape it...just because these wonder tips cost money dont make em better...:snooker:

Now i can say i'm glad i stayed with them and can genuinely and honestly say they are the best tips i have ever played with, far superior to a BD or Elk in my opinion.Live for the day you're in, tomorrow is just something that may happen

I use Talisman soft (11mm) for 3 month now. the tip is supereb, great control and it seems that i wont need to retip my cue in the next month as the tip looks and feels as new after 3 month of playing. tryed another cue of mine with elk on it, felt like going back to FORD after driving in a BMW.Proud winner of the 2009 Premier League Semi-Final Prediction Contest

Hi 1lawyer.
I think the answer to your question lies in how long laminated tips last.
Elkmasters tend to compress and wear away after a couple of months; only really reaching their peak performance towards the end of their life. They are almost constantly changing shape and playability as they age.
Laminated tips such as talismans can last for 3 or 4 times as long. So once you get one playing nicely, it will be more consistent for a longer period of time.
