  • Do you sand the base of a tip till the brand names is sanded off??

    When you do a re-tipping, do you guys sand the base of the tip till the brand name (like those tailisman or phenix tip) is sanded off?

    Never used those tips but i did sand my kamui black m/h until the writing was completely gone...

      Yes you have to sand the writing completely off or the tip won't work like it should.

        Good re-tipping guides recommend to lightly sand the bottom of new tips to make sure the surface is flat, or if you want to take a bit of the height of the tip, as long as the surface of the side to be glued is clean it doesn't matter if there's still writing attached...
        Don't let the fear of losing be greater than the excitement of winning...

          the purpose of the sanding is to create a key for the glue so as long as the surface is rough enough it should not matter, 2 or 3 seconds on 120 grit will be plenty.
