sorry that wasnt very clear, when i say its only on the 'sweet spot' i mean it is not a full layer, it is a very thin layer left after sanding down, i would say the original tip was 1-1.5mm higher than mine is now.

i doubt you would want to keep the tip at full height, so i wouldnt worry about it being too low (atleast iv never seen anybody with a tip that high)

and they are so easy to cut down and shape, so even if you like a smaller tip and are worried about having to take too much off i wouldnt be, they are a piece of cake to fit and shape, much easier than elks which i wasnt expecting, sometimes with elks they almost seem to tear apart if i have to take too much off, which is one reason i used to compress them, to get the height down.
but this tip just sanded down nicely and it has finished perfectly.

It is very impressive, like iv said it is the first layered tip iv used but a friend uses taliman soft and his dont hold shape like this has. Its brilliant

I use an 11 mm Talisman hard layered 'domed' tip on my 9.9 mm feral - I pay a local cue maker to replace my tip. He uses his lathe and 10x magnification to trim and edge burnish the sides.
I get him to put a very slight taper on the side (top of tip starts at 9.7 mm so the slight mushrooming on these hard tips does not end up with an over-hang - He is done in 10 minutes. Worth every penny I pay.

I start with the stock dome and reshape if needed after a few hours of play. I never trim the sides again, but I reburnish the sides once a week or so- when it is time to replace I have little over hang and about 1 mm thickness on the edge over the feral (I get about 8 or 9 months per tip - I play a power game eg I power stun through 10" on a straight in shot from 4 feet to play shape, no roll in roll through for shape. These tips last as long as any tip I have ever tried) After getting a new tip, I do some long pot drills for 20 min or so and then some black spot drills to get the 'feel' on close spin shots - takes about 30 minutes and I am ready for match play. Once in while I will roll and twist a 'tip tapper' to scuff the tip to better hold the chaulk.

I'm in the same boat, waiting for mine to arrive. It will be a great change for me, playing with a not so great Blue Diamond at the minute.

AFTER 10 HOURS OF PLAY

I have had well over 10 hours of play with the tip now, infact it will be more like 20 hours as i had a 13 hour session last night/this morning!

And the tip has needed no reshaping in this time, it is still playing as it did from day 1.

I am truely amazed at how much action i can get on the cue ball now, with my elks i thought i had decent cue power for a club player on club tables, but this tip has added to that massively!!

I suppose i probably dont get that much more spin, but it really is almost effortless, and now when i do really put the effort in like i had to before, it is amazing to me how much i can get, even if it isnt needed 99% of the time, it is nice to know and be confident that it can be done.

My overall cue ball control has improved, the delicate little shots feel easier and more controlled.

I am definately staying with these tips now, i will be ordering a few more soon just so im stocked up for the future!
And with the way this tip is holding its shape i can see it lasting a very long time.

I cannot recommend them enough, i am extremely happy with them, perfect!

Just to show how little the tip has changed over 20ish hours of play.

It is a little different as i have fine tuned the shape as i played the first couple of times with it, but that is not because it was mishapen from play, just because the photos i put up were of a rough shape and the tip stood slightly higher than id normally have it as i expected it to bed in and get lower, but in all honesty i have had to do that myself as they seem indestructible

I can see these catching on with alot of players worldwide and pros aswell.

I just stuck on a brand new layered G2 Tip on my Peradon Royal and it is nearly identical to that ADR tip before sanding and shaping.

Gee i am hoping i can sand and shape it as good as what rightoncue89 has done as that is an awesome job mate.

I will let you know how i go!

Its easy enough just take your time and dont rush it if your not getting the shape fast enough, the big schoolboy error is to take too rough a sandpaper to it to get there faster and then tear the fibres to bits, go slow and steady and be patient.
When you have an approximate shape burnish the edge so you can check how accurate your shape is and then fine tune it

I have done alot of tips over the last 5 years, i do tips for my local pool and snooker teams too so i get alot of practice lol

Thanks for the advice mate as it is much appreciated. I am a newbie at re tipping and only done it a few times and so scared i am gunna stuff the Tip!! This G2 tip i got was $15 for one!! I am still waiting for the glue to dry a bit more before i start shaping it.

Have you had any experience with G2 tips mate as this is my first one i have had??

sorry no experience with g2 tips, but if you take it slow you really cant go wrong, and when shaping, always use down strokes, from the top of the tip towards the ferrule, never sand or file it upwards, it doesnt matter if it takes you half hour or an hour, you will get quicker with practice, i do mine in 10-15 minutes but when i first started it felt like it took forever! lol best if luck with it and i look forward to seeing it
