Don´t know if this is the right place for a very basic question, but I´ve tried retipping for the first time myself. But I was very much in doubt about how much to shape. I can see that mine is much more flat than what you have done in here. What´s the advantage of rounding a tip ?....its not called potting its called snooker. Quote: WildJONESEYE

I just put one on the other day, seems ok so far although I haven't had the time to play much. I have used Talisman Soft for years but I don't know if I just had a bad batch or the quality has gone down but I had to change several to get a good one with the last batch I bought. I was looking for an alternative and it seems Mike Wooldridge's laminated tips are very highly recommended but don't seem to be available at the moment for whatever reason.

ADR147 Laminated Tips Review
I've seen worse Denja =p It's personal preference in my experience, but better to leave a bit of height then bed the tip in then reshape if need be... Have you played with it yet?Don't let the fear of losing be greater than the excitement of winning...

Well I tried Adr147 Tip for the first time and here is my input (I am no expert so please forgive crap bits)
Item delivered (I only ordered one as I am a cheapskate) it was packed in a bubble wrap envelope and small jiffy bag and well printed label (Cant understand how they go astray) The tip is real meaty with the ADR147 logo on top and glue on the bottom (you have got to be a real berk to get it wrong) after sanding bottom the tip still has plenty of layers to play with unlike some where you sand the bottom and because the tip is very thin to start with you end up with a very reduced height. Must admit found shaping the tip hard work but as I said I am no expert ! The leather layers are very tough and I would think very good quality, Just a bit of advice plenty of masking tape, real sharp blade,Superglue GEL it give you that extra time to center tip, Right ! Tip fitted and domed to the best I can get it, used Adr147 burnishing tool and yipee ! not bad.
Practice 3 hours with new tip The tip has a very solid hit with a very full sound, Screw,Stun,Top,Side, were all very positive would not say it made me able to screw back the whole length of the table I never could ! but it has a very confident no nonsense feel, I then noted there had been almost no flat areas on tip a couple of strokes with file and if was back to correct dome.
Match 2 hours Ok I LOST ! however tip played well and tip retained its shape.
Summary/ This is what I would call a Work Horse tip with no frills or hype but a good quality that you can put on your cue and forget and just concentrate on your game, (Think Ronnie should have one he appears obsessed with his tip ! if he sticks his nail in it again fiddles with it and looks at it I will go mad.)Last edited by denja; 1 February 2014, 11:19 AM.
