  • G2 Tip.

Well i fitted my new G2 Tip ( Soft ) today and it was really my first solid attempt at shaping and doing it myself as my mate usually does it but i decided to have a go at it! I was very cautious of stuffing it up as they are not cheap and over $10 for 1 Tip. These tips have had great reviews so i decided to give them a go and see what all the fuss was about!

I started off removing the old worn out tip from my Peradon and scuffing the surface of the cue so i had a good bonding surface for the new tip to adhere to. A bit of Tiger Glue and she was then stuck on! Fast forward 3 hrs when glue has dried the shaping started! I used a sharp knife first off with the Cue upside down on a cutting board with new tip flush on the cutting board surface. I then trimmed it down from the ferrulle while rotating the cue in my hands as i then worked the knife to trim down nice and straight and as circular as i could achieve. Once that was done it was sanding time with a Tip shaper and a final burnish with a leather belt.

I think it came up o.k as a first attempt and i was just a bit worried i may of left it a bit to high but gee it plays well and i am over 4 hrs playing time with it and it seems to be getting better with each shot. The White ball control is great and it has a beautiful sound to it and not to soft even though that's what it is rated as.

I will post more Pics as it beds in more with more play as these pics were before it had even hit a ball but i must say i am very impressed with the G2 so far and i highly recommend it.
If it is called " Common sense " why is it so rare???

        G2 Tip.

nah its fine, you can always take more off when it beds in, but you cant add more on if you go too low before it beds in!

Been playing most of the day with it now as it is just to hot to go outside so i just stay inside playing Snooker with the A/C blaring!!( 43 degrees in Melbourne every day this week! ).

The more i play the better this Tip feels and the reviews i have read are all spot on. No Mushrooming yet at all and for a Soft rated tip is quite hard IMO. On most durometers that measure Tip hardness the Soft rating on the G2 is close or if not the same as a Medium when compared to other brands hence why i went the Soft grade and i am glad i did as the shape has not moved a bit and it is lovely to strike with. :snooker:

Yeah, it has been HOT. Maybe this idea will help.

At 43 degrees, probably not too long. Still better than nothing in this heat.

I've got to ask Chappy is that red mark around the top of your cue from chalk??

I take it you must be using red chalk cause of the cloth colour on the table.......

Yeah from when the chalk gets to low!

I can only use Red chalk on my table as it is a ***** to clean off any other color and it sits in the Nap of the Strachan badly which means ages brushing! Grrrr.

I play both mate but more Snooker than Pool. The G2's are a more well known for Pool but plenty of people at my local club are using them for Snooker to, which is where i first tried a Cue with one fitted and i was impressed a heap with it.

                              I got it from here....
