So does anyone have any experience with using master chalk on an elkmaster tip compared with triangle chalk ? Had noticed quite a few top players at the WC using master chalk so would be interested to know?

I preferred triangle on the elks and master on the laminated tips . The master is "softer" and I found it to layer up very thick on the elk where the triangle gave a nice even covering . On the laminated tips I found the triangle didn't really stick to the tip all that great and the master being softer layers onto the tip perfectly .

Thanks for comments! It seems to make sense too from what other forum members have said regarding the master chalk being more suited to a laminate tip.i think I will prob just stick with good old triangle chalk as only play with elks!

I bought some master chalk a week ago out of the states but still waiting for it. Can't wait to try it with my new ADR147 Laminated Tip Soft. I had been using the MW tips but ran into a bad batch that where spongy so I switched to ADR so now I am interested to see how the Master Chalk works after hearing everyone say it is great with laminated tips. On another note Ronnie is using master chalk with a compressed tip. I think it is an Elkmaster.

I have a box of 12 coming I could throw one your way Dean but it would take for ever to get there. MW said he would send me a couple packages of Super Tips to replace mine and that was three weeks ago and still nothing.

I have loads of Master blue chalk as I found it worked well with Talisman layered tips. I have changed to a pressed tip and gone back to green chalk.

Anyone want to do a direct swap, blue for green master?

You have to ask yourself why all these pros have suddenly switched to Master chalk after using Triangle for years. I wouldn't think they are on a retainer from Tweetens as they make both kinds. I wouldn't think that it's to stop miscueing so often as pros very rarely do anyway. It can't be for better grip for deep screw shots as Selby does very well with Triangle.

Maybe it's the kicks question again. Maybe they believe that Master chalk doesn't transfer to the cue ball as much being softer and therefore only requiring a light wipe across the tip. Then again Ronnie was really digging chalk into his new Ronnie's Magic Elkmaster tips the past two weeks and got as many kicks as anyone else.

I use green Master chalk, have done since forever, but seeing as my regular playing partner uses green Triangle we both get the requisite amount of kicks per frame. Whose chalk is to blame ? neither when using super crystalate balls as there are so few kicks anyway, or maybe it's him, but when using phenolic resin TC's there are about two or three big kicks per frame and a bad contact every five shots or so.

                            vmax, interesting comments as usual.
Stevie is sending me a lump of Master Spruce as I have found the Triangle Spruce seems to not be as good as it was on a normal Elk as on the Elk Special (non-prechalked) tip I now have on.
I seem to need more chalking to maintain coverage than I did before.
So maybe the Master will work on this tip better.
Maybe that is why ROS has changed chalk since changing to the non-prechalked tip.

Is that on a clean table Vmax?, I have recently bought a set of TC balls and clean them every time I play(just a wipe over and a buff down) and I hardly get any kicks ,the odd bad contact , but that's a couple in a full sesh, not per frame, the only time I had a really bad day was I went on a table that was filthy with chalk, and got loads of proper kicks that day.

Personally speaking I don't see that Tweetens Triangle and Master chalks are different according to what colour they are. Surely the only difference is the dye used. Blue is frowned upon in snooker for marking the cue ball too much, but it doesn't mark the cue ball any more than green, it's just more visible, same for spruce green.

I have a box of National Tournament spruce green if you're interested in trying one.
