A full set of vintage snooker balls complete with original box in great condition, although some of the colour has faded or been leached away by the packaging. The thick cardboard box is fairly plain with only two remarkable features - An Ashworth sticker on the underside and the stamped number '7870' marked inside. The seller was able to tell me that they belonged to his uncle Bill, a survivor of WW1, who used to visit Ashworth's in Liverpool on a Saturday afternoon to play snooker rather than the more popular Billiards.
If anyone else can tell me a little more about these I would be grateful or if they will complete or be a great addition to somebody's collection then please let me know. Otherwise I am happy to enjoy them and plan to match these with a period correct cue and experience the game in the manner it used to be played.
