agree,, the only disadvantage of Loctite gel is: you have to be pretty quick to get the tip central !!!! . Because within 3/5 seconds, the tip is firmly stuck on the FRL.
that's why I always use a larger tip. is easier to position the tip correctly and to do it fast.
that's why I like the Repositionable version (if you can find it) which gives you a few more seconds than the normal SG
oversize all the way
I also prefer to put Oversize Tips On especially on my own Cues, as smaller the Tip the height isnt great as you know and i like to shape the tip nicely without it going to low towards the Ferrule and some of my customers prefer a bigger tip and some prefer abit of Overlap like Peter Edbon!...ha ha.
There is a small problem with this mind as sometimes it does make the Tip abit Softer after cutting it even if you are very careful and using a very sharp blade so please be careful when cutting tip down i always do tiny little cuts and turn cue very slowly with holding alot of pressure firmly on the tip so it doesnt part the tip or pull the tip fibres away. Some Videos you will see with Guys fitting tips holding the Cue under there Arm pit and turning slowly with sharp blade this takes alot of Practise and then i dont think its as good as Holding Pressure on tip when Trimming but make sure Tip is Central and Not big Over Lap one side!....This is Obviously my Opinion mind.
When I fit Oversized Tips on which i do alot of, i would highly recommend putting the tip on ferrule as central as possible so right around the Tip has the same overlap. The reason for this is when you leave bigger over lap one side than the other it Really Ruins alot of Tips as cutting big Chunk off One side really Weakens it Beleive me i have Been there and Got the T-Shirt....lol... many moons ago when i first starting Re-Tipping Cues i found this out hope this helps.

you're right about that one !!! what a difference in price . !!! I do'nt understand, they are both on Amazon.
maybe different companies. !!!!
anyway, thanks. !!!!
If you intend to use a 14mm Kamui clear onto your snooker cue, do remember to use Loctite liquid version instead of gel. Had 6 pop off from friend's cue but the lucky thing was, I haven't started to trim down yet.
Used Superglue Gel Repositionable and a 10mm tip. Seems to have stuck pretty well. Used a clamp on it for a period of time to apply extra pressure as i realised the ferrule wasn't very level and my attempt to correct it using a file wasn't very successful. Not sure what the best way to correct it is. And not sure if there is anyone in Northants who fits new ferrules as i've just started to get interested in playing again after 20 years away. As i understand Rodney Hinde who made me a cue is retired and Mac Chambers is sadly deceased
I have heard of a new cue doctor/maker over in Farnborough way, if that is any good?
The thing is, how bad is the ferrule, maybe just a good, correct levelling will work for you?
I can get hold of a ferrule sanding machine-thingie which does a flat sanding in relation to the shaft.

Thanks Dean. Not sure if you've recieved all my private message replies as i click send and nothing seems to be happening. But thanks for your offer of help. Haven't played with the new tip yet but hopefully will stay on ok or i will try levelling the ferrule and redoing it.
