  • Best superglue for putting a new tip on?

Hi i was just wondering which superglue is best for putting a new tip on. I tried Bison superglue gel but the tip came off. Also the cue is 9.5mm so which size tip should i use 9.5mm tip or maybe 10mm and trim it down which i've never done before. Thanks.

Search for ADR tip guide, always fit bigger and trim down, and Loctite gel seems to be what the majority of people use these days.
No one is listening until you make a mistake!

definitely loctite gel, allows you to position the tip, and ready to play in minutes not hours

Definatley loctite gel. You might find it cheaper but just to show you this is what I use.

And here's a video on how to do it, it's a bit long but worth the watch

as others have said the Loctite superglue is very good, I would say get the Gel version for control, also I like the Superglue Gel Repositionable, gives you a few extra seconds to get the tip central.
Also, it is best to have an oversized tip (i.e. 10mm for a 9.5mm ferrule) so you can trim down to get a nice match.
                Up the TSF! :snooker:

yep - gives you the time to position the tip correctly.

The you tube clip has another important gem of information.

For sanding the base of the tip, make sure you place the sandpaper with the paper side face down .

Yes Loctite Super Glue Gel Control in Black/Silver Tub or Tube is the Best by long way, I fit many tips a week and have done well 100's-1000's and i have found this is the best not only gives you time to fit but only ever had 1 come off and that was a Mis-Cue I would say rather than Tip falling off. What some people dont mention which is very important is make sure both surfaces have been lightly sanded Bottom of Tip and Top of Cue/Ferrule been clean before fitting the Tip which makes it Bond Better.

                          Gaz.

I agree with this guy who clearly knows what he is talking about - additionally after sanding the flat side of the tip I also scar lines across it with a blade sort of give the glue some channels to make it stick better - never had one fall off doing this.

agree,, the only disadvantage of Loctite gel is: you have to be pretty quick to get the tip central !!!! . Because within 3/5 seconds, the tip is firmly stuck on the FRL.
that's why I always use a larger tip. is easier to position the tip correctly and to do it fast.
