Many cases are a tight fit to begin with, until the foam compresses to the shape of the highest point of whatever you place inside. Within reason this is okay, as long as it doesn't stress anything unduly. I have seen owners add extra catches (you can buy them off ebay, Cheney are the best) to help keep the lid in line. You can also use a soft jaw hand/bar clamp (Screwfix) with plenty of padding (something like a folded facecloth) to gently squeeze the lid into position and leave it overnight. If that doesn't work then the case has been manufactured incorrectly. Hope that helps.
