1G Ball Sizes

... I've measured my mumps 1G ball at 52.23mm but my ordinary CB is only 51.86mm...

I looked at both cue balls with my eyes and felt them, and thought, the mumps ball is bigger, ... If I can tell with my naked eye...

... I can see the differences with my own eyes though ...

Put the two balls on a table and look at them with the guide of the cushion; plain as day is the difference. Easy.

Yep, of course, no two balls can ever be the same weight, this is impossible. There will always be a difference of at least one molecule. So they give a tolerance which is 3g. But Aramith guarantee their expensive balls to 1g variation. What they don't do is give a guarantee on size it seems.

Well, I don't know about you guys but my balls are way too large to measure...lol

The balls will wear down after about 1yrs worth of constant play and especially the cueballs which always get smaller and lighter. My own cueball has dropped around .3gm in weight over the past 2 years.

I don't think a small variance in size would effect potting or positional play as much as a variance in weight does.

Cheers Tel, I disagree with you, I think size difference will be a much greater influence on potting compared to weight difference but weight difference would affect position and CB reaction. Interesting that your old balls are wearing down, any wrinkles? I'm gonna have to buy anothe CB. Jeez, I'll have an entire rack of em at this rate.....

I see you edited your post after i responded to it, i didn't say i wouldn't be able to see 1/20th mm on an Engineers ruler, altho i have never seen one, i said you wouldn't be able to see 0.37mm difference in diameter between 2 spherical balls next to each other !

Well I can, and if you say I can't, you're wrong because you are NOT here! You have no way of knowing if I can or I can't. But I really can and so can other players I've shown the balls to today. Seeing the difference in the hand is tricky but when you put them against a rail and get down, it's pretty obvious. So stay in denial, you don't have two CBs this size and yet you seem to know the answer without even looking at the balls! People who know the results of tests without ever conducting one; Deluded!
