Forgot to add , I used little panel pins and a good wood glue to put it together and it was solid

I was thinking along the same lines, either 6 or 9mm mdf glued and pinned for strength.
Had wondered if heating the leather would help when trying to mold round corners, may give it a try.
Need to start working on this soon as everything just in mind at present and until I start who knows how it will turn out 😊

The leather stretches no problem it's just hard to make it neat

I made my own from folded Ali sheet. Used case corner fittings for corners, riveted on. Foam with recessed cue place with a black cotton material covering. Big enough to hold 4 chalks and pouch, glasses, sandpaper, car keys, hand gel as well as mini butt and extension. Being raw Ali finish, its almost indestructible. No need to be precious with it and it is rather industrial looking. Plenty of positive comments on it. Would even probably survive airline baggage handlers

Case is 1200 x 160 x 70

Towel just goes through the handle.
