    sorry mark,made you confused.i meant how to scuff the tip to take chalk better.i'm just curious to know what else can i use to scuff tip quick,easy and better.
    it seemed that you misunderstood what i mean because of my wrong expressions.and i mistakely thought that is a scuff tool what you got from adr.
    but,learning how to burnish the sides would't be bad

      from these posts,i realize that it's more important for me to learning english than the snooker.
      but it's more difficult than snooker

        Can't be. Just about everyone I know speaks english, and almost none of them can play snooker to even a mediocre level.

        Try watching british television, you'll soon pick it up.

        *WARNING* Under no circumstances try learning from Tyne Tees Television. This is only for advanced users.

          With sand paper just hold the cue by the brass ferrule with finger and thumb, you will never scratch the ferrule then. Your thumb and finger will protect it.
          Crazybeans, no problem with your English. The above is what will help you then. Sand paper is the most popular way most players scuff the tip but there are many similar tools out there. Try any snooker store online for cue accessories. Hope this helps.

            Use anything flattish and smooth to firm down any fluff or fibres, e.g. a smooth edged spoon. Rubbing the chalk hard on fluff also beds it down and pushes chalk into the surface as a bonus.

            For all tips, laminated or single layer, I've found this tool to be the best for filing a tip down into a great dome shape;
            http://www.craftsmancues.com/acatalo...13.html#SID=37

            You can use it to rub up and down or use it to rotate from the centre out. Lasts years and years and it won't break or fail.

                        have to say that,in china,there are many more movies and television programs from american than british.so,there is a interesting question:we studied british english in school,but touching more american english in our life,in addition to totally different accents which I didn't understand a single word(imo they are totally different),gradually,i hard to get used to speak and listen british english
                        above all this,learning a language needs a good environment and a lot of practice.but people were at the same level as me who around me,we can't talking in english, because we can't correct each other.so i think only talk with english speakers can i improve my speaking and listening.
                        but the snooker is different.i can play all day without any partner in the weekend or holidays,because i exactly know what i want and what is wrong or right.sometimes we even without a word when we playing against each other,let alone the idioms,usages,argots etc...we can find so many textbooks and videos on internet,and learning,practicing alone.

                        it took me hours to write this,i wish i can make myself understood.
