As the title says really, it's a pressed tip.

I have always thought that oil would not do a tip any good so have always ensured not to get any on it
      never tested it though, anyone?

        No test needed is there...

I know without testing that my tip is porous and I definitely don't want it soaking up oil...

Chuck a little masking tape over ferrule when near oil if needs must.

On a pressed tip so long as you wipe it off before it gets chance to absorb you should be able to buff it out, keep going until all the tip is the same colour.
Laminated tips seem to just soak it up like a sponge, have only done it once and gave up trying to fix it, so can't say if it affected play.
Home bargains currently do an electric disposable cigarette for 49p, it comes with soft rubber protectors for either end of the cigarette which are a perfect tip protector for 8-10mm tips, and the ends of the tube it comes in are perfect for protecting up to 11mm tips. I offered this to take a break but they didn't seem as excited as I was!
No one is listening until you make a mistake!

Well I have one freshly oil tip to do a test, I've tried to get it out and it seems dry enough now. We'll see how it plays.

As a rule the answer is yes, it will absorb the oil and it will change the tip.

It's a new tip though, so I wouldn't notice if it changed.

Well if it's an elk just take it off and stick another on, if it's some fifteen pound job, try your hardest to save it.
