I have heard some of the pros keeping a reserve of already played in tips so that they can reapply them to their cue, specifically in the middle of a tournament so they can replace a tip and not require to 'play it in' and can be confident of how it plays.
Does anyone here know of any techniques that will get a tip off undamaged? They way I have always done it is why a stanley knife and I can't imagine that would leave the tip playable again even with some skill and practice.
