Who sang the original? It was written in 63, but I can't find anyone else who sang it.

Dean, did you find that easily? I didn't. When jrc750 said Johnny Rivers I thought "who the heck is he" googled him then read he produced for Al Wilson then read about the soul city label then something else, then something else, then finally I got it.
Anyways seeing as I've turned this conversation from tips to hits can anyone into Northern honestly say there is a better song out there than this...
and if your not into northern try telling me why it's in the Guinness book book of records.

Spose i'll be singing The Snake till it comes and if it's half as good as the seller said it'll be Do I love You (indeed I do ) thereafter.

Not one for the purists because it's a medley , but I loved dancing to this when just a young un. IIRC Jodey Wately sang on this.

Loved hearing this again so much, I took my slippers off and had a stomp shuffle round the living room, Mrs just laughing and shaking her head, my backs gone and I think I'm having a heart attack, apart from that worth every second. edit: Better make that the first ten people just in case there's a conspiracy to bankrupt me.
Jimmy....I bought some leather as in your pic and treated a few with milk duds and have fitted and shaped a couple after compressing. They look ok so have fitted to an old cue I have done some work to and gonna play with it tomorrow to see if it holds together.
Even though the edges look fine as I have shaped them I wonder if anyone has any idea how tip makers get their sides so sharp without manually doing them? Possibly a mold as they compress them......interesting one though.

I had an old Sidney Smith Machine Spliced Tournament that was battered and ready fr the bin so rescued it and have given it an overhaul. I put one of the tips on it yesterday and gave it a runaround this morning.
The cue was too short for me, too light for me, Ferrule too large and it was a bit humid in the club so not as smooth as I'd like but the tip was a total surprise.
I hit a few balls to see how different it was from my Talisman soft to start. A few shots caught me out with timing but did a line up and knocked a swift 88 in and felt pretty good so went quite well for standard type shots.
Will probably let the latest batch dry and try them on a better cue as although it went well want to know if certain sounds are coming from the tip or cue etc. No miscues, played straight in so a bit of a shock. (or shockerz).
I may have to measure a few if I really give it a go to see how they compress over time with various leathers (this was a pressed tip by the way).
After the laminated tip I made a few weeks ago I will probably try a few things on the layers prior to doing another tip.
Nice surprise today though (read loads and tried lots of different things in the last couple of weeks!
