I bought a white tube like tip burnisher , but no idea where from

Need to buy another couple .

Can anyone point me in the right direction ?

I use a nozzle from a silicone or caulk gun, just cut down both ends to suit

not the same thing though really - it is the heat from friction that you need. - it you are tight or want another method a strip of leather or a £20 note works as well.

Clearly I'm missing the obvious, how do you burnish it?

with a tool you put it over the tip and twist.

It doesn't need to be a snug fit then Andy (obviously lots of diameter tips)?

Its a big hole at the bottom and a small one at the top, so most tips fit, no use for a mushroom though.

Does that mean the side of the tip doesn't end up parallel with the ferrule?

Usually ends up perfectly flush, also shines up the ferrule a touch.

It's not for cutting the tip down to the ferrule though, it just polishes the sidewalls of the tip to stregnthen them.
