I think you meant they are not perfect (unless I have read that wrong).
I had a look at some of your older catches and they do look a better quality than some of the Chaney catches I have bought as spares recently......I wonder why the change?

Changing locks to Cheneys is the best idea as long as they fit nice and the case doesn't end up looking like ya grandads home made tool box! Lol.⚪ 🔴🟡🟢🟤🔵💗⚫🕳️😎

The Chaney latches seem to be the best fit for the problem and at least there are replacements generally available in this country.
I've certainly had an exhausting look out there and I can't see anything similar and if you can't find an alternative then I guess that's case closed...........sorry, couldn't resist that one!

if there were solid latches available then maybe people would use them, but if latches were riveted to a case and something went wrong then customers would need to go out buy bubble wrap, then book couriers for returning a case, followed by a day sitting at home waiting for the couriers, followed by another day needed waiting on the case getting returned
The quality of Cheney latches are not what people think, basically they are very very poor but can be changed in a matter of 5 minutes by someone with very little knowledge so probably still the best option !

As Neil says, he's an idiot and he managed to change his so I certainly wouldn't disagree with an idiot, who knows what he might do! (just kidding Neil.......put the shotgun back in the box!).
