i use them too Sam and have done for the past 3 years. the hard buffalo are also very good. perhaps give a little more grip as the leather is slightly courser than pigskin. both very good tips though.
personaly its all about the elks for me and to each there own, however i have used the tips you mentioned that ronnie and higgins use and they are great tips cos all of them are pretty consistant in the way they play and they dont take any knocking in plus they last forever. having said that i cant find them anywhere i only ever played with them cos a mate got them imported when the clamped ones first came out. but like i say for feel i gotta love the elks.
I use a wooldridge single layer supertip at the minute, has either of you used on, i like a harder tip as i think i can get more feel with the cueball because it has a harder contact.
I play alot more uk 8 ball county and league, do you think the hard talismans are suitable enought to play pool with?

hi craig
i've never used the "wooldridge" single layer tips before but i hear they're very good... when i started playing, i used the blue diamond then switched to elkmaster & only lately have started using the talisman pro!! i'm very comfortable & confident with'em
i believe the talisman would be suitable for playing pool, in fact, i think they were originally made for pool (they come in 11 & 14 mm sizes, usually too big for Snooker & have to be trimmed)
the tip size on my pool cue is 8mm as its english pool not amercian so the tip i use is very small, i know the talismans are very easy to trim, better thansingle layer, would you recommend them for english pool?
i use them for both snooker and 9 ball so i would imagine they are suitable for all cue sports. dont see there being a problem. just make sure you use a very sharp blade to cut them.
I am currently using a blue diamond tip as my dad reccomended them from his playing days, must say it is very good, I am a lot more consistent since I have started using it.
I always use Loctite superglue because basically once the tip is on snug it will wear all the way donw without ever coming off. For anyone in the UK you can get 10 grammes for just £2 from Wilkinsons instead of the normal 5 grammes for £3:50. I need to re-tip my cue so I was very pleased when I noticed this yesterday
Its super fast bonding so be super careful with it!
