I've used the runny stuff since it first came out and never heard of the jel stuff till I first saw ADR's tip guide. S'pose it can soak in if you apply a fair bit many yanks recommend doing so it to harden the tip more. but just a spot has always been ok for me.
Mike Wooldrige on his site thinks the same too by the looks of it.

I agree with ADR, Super glue Gel is the way to go. Although I sometimes use Araldite epoxy if I have no super glue.

I've been using Loctite 'runny' type super glues for well over 15 years, without any issues of tips getting soaked with the glue or without the timber of the shaft rotting, or any other myths or tales of disaster that people talk about.
If using this glue is good enough to bond tips for players who have won major ranking events time and again, it will be good enough for anyone reading this thread.

i have not seen the glue soak into the cue but i have seen it soak into elkmaster tips - in the end i think what matters is that you get a good seal between the cue and the tip and i find it easier to get a good seal and you get a couple of seconds to position the tip nicely with the gel. the only thing i have never been able to get to work properly is the tweetens tip cement i find it chalky and the bond weak and brittle.

I have just purchased and fitted a Medium Talisman .
I was amazed how easy they are to shape and soon got the tip how i wanted it ..... it didnt fluff up like an elkmaster !
Also ,when i played my first few shots with the Talisman , i was shocked how it already felt bedded in unlike the spongy feel of a new Elk .
The only thing that concerns me is the chalk issue which people have said about , already mine doesnt seem to take chalk like an Elk . Will this tip enable big screw shots even tho it is already hard ?
Only time will tell if Talismans are the way to go , ive used Elks for 20 years but i am constantly changing tips due to wear
Oh ........ and £5 for an effing tip ????? they better be good !!!!!!!!Last edited by Nemesis; 9 February 2008, 01:20 AM.

yes and i will still be buying so many that peradon will do me a deal but it is no longer going to be possibe to keep the costs down so low. the trade price has doubled in the last 12 months - firstly because of the $usd being in freefall and now because peradon are taking their cut. when the stock i have runs out i will be putting the price up to £6 and i expect other sellers will have to do the same.
