What Tip Do You Use?

I started off with Elks but soon experimented with BDs and found them more consistent and easier to shape, so I've stuck with them. I'm aware of the more expensive brands and might give them a try at some point just to see what the fuss is about, but I've no complaints about my current choice of tips (though it's quite possible I'm not good enough a player to appreciate the difference yet). Never have any trouble finding them either, I usually buy in small quantities (bags of 3 or 6) off ebay.

I agree there is nothing wrong with BD or elks, ive tried nearly every different tip going, layered, etc and i have to say the best in my opinion is the wooldridge single layer, expensive for a single layer but they work for me.

Many of our members are commenting on the quality of triangle tips for snooker. They're predominantly used for 9ball but we managed to get hold of some 10mm so there's no need to cut them down.

been a while since i tried those but i remember them being a bit wooden - how hard are they now?

i having one of those triangles on my american pool cue and I find them similar to a Le Pro, perhaps better grip though.

talisman soft every time now. like so man people i was an elkmaster user but got my first batch of talisman soft from adr147 and have not looked back since.superb feel, reaction, and playabilty as well as being so consistant in comparison to elks, bd and MK supertips

yes a lot of people really rate them. ah ha i see elkmasters have overtaken blue diamonds for the first time!

wooldridge tips are great, the single layer are the best ive used imo..

have always used elkmaster and blue diamond did not realise there were any others worth using but since being on here and having my eyes opened i am in the process of bidding for some TALISMAN on ebay so will put one of them on if sucessful
saying that elkmaster seem to be good for me anyway

That is the main reason, most sports shops stock elks and BD's, also the range of tips layered, supertips etc have only been around for a few years compared to the elks and BD's.

actually i suspect thats about profits - firstly a box of elks at trade is about the same as 3 talisman tips! and yet they can raise £50 for that in a sports shop so the profit margin is much much higher although they have to sell more, also not many 'casual' players will spend £5 on a tip to put on a cue they bought for £10 in argos!
