Totally agree takes all the guess work and wonder out of it, plus there are some great people on here with great knowledge on specific areas.
And the fact there all prepared to share there knowledge with us all regardless of who we are is brilliant.

      • I used BD for over 20 years, but because of quality I'm struggling between BD and elks lately and throwing 60-70% away. After reading different posts here and doing a bit of research I've decided to try the talisman pro soft (which I've just ordered last night from ADR147 on eBay)

I've never used a layered tip before, so let's give it a try.

            • @ ADR147 or anyone else for that matter

how does the talisman pro soft compare to the mike wooldridge super tip?
feel, durability, mushrooming, percentage of good tips etc.

              • its very similar to mikes laminated tip - mikes other supertip is more like a good elkmaster.

                • I have recently switched from BD to Elk, and I cant quite make my mind up if they are right for me. (Don't get me wrong, the quality is tons better the BD). After reading this thread I think I may give the Talisman pro soft a try, as I think a softer tip may be better suited to my cue action ?

                  • talisman soft is not softer than an elkmaster.

                          I'll second that.

                          • The very lovable ADR147, sent me a tip. It was / is a Talisman soft; at the start I was very dubious about using a 5 pound tip.

He assured me that they are very good tips and that they are worth every penny.

So about a week ago my BD came off and the fiver went on. At first I thought like I’ve read here somewhere that I was playing with a marble on the end of my cue. I was also sure that I would never get used to playing something this hard. Had I not told ADR147 that I would give it a good try it would have certainly come off again.

This week has gone fairly well, no miss cueing, the feel of the balls is there and its like playing with a very good BD. Its firm but not hard, it grips really well, it takes calk great, all in all its what Andrew told me it would be, a really good tip.

After this week I would recommend these tips to anybody. A fiver for a tip, is a lot of dosh I think, but if it holds as long as ADR147 said it will then its worth its money.

Absolutely none of the pro players I tip cues for like tips as hard as Talismans or the like, none of them.

Trevor they really should try these things, they are not very cheap but good things seldom are.

They should get them stuck on, and play them for at least three days. They then really start reacting like the tips I’m used to playing with.

In general they are very good tips.

                            • It's a decent enough idea for sure, but only one of them I know would consider using a tip so hard as the Talismans. All the other players would rip them straight off again, this I know for certain.

If you like them, then stick with them, you can't go arong if you feel they work for you.
