Hey Hotpot have you tried the Talisman hard and if so is there a huge difference between the soft, medium and hard ?
I like a really hard tip but i already ordered some soft Talismans..."It's just a shot away" -Rolling Stones-

I have used Talisman med and hard in all varieties, i would say the cow skin ones(hopefully out soon) are a little softer than the same grade in the pigskin and buffalo. I do like a very hard tip and i like the hard version but these will prob be too hard for most and i would say the buffalo give a little more grip than the pigskin but not as much as the cow skin.
Hopefully the slight problems with the test tips can be sorted soon and you can all enjoy these tips. In my opinion these are the best tips. I have used just about every one out and i include kamui and moori and tiger but as far as laminated tips go these are the tops.
As for pressed tips, i would say Pro Granite or if you can make your own milk duds from elks even better."Don't think, feel"

hey doc some very good information there about tips, i was going to put the talisman med on last week but just been lazy as the sunday league i play in has finished for the season. think i'm going to order the talisman wb and try out that tip as it offers more grip, dont think it could be much more harder than the shinny solid pro-granite i have on at the moment but to be fair its nearly at the end of its shelf life ive had it on for a while!!!

Aurora tips review.
I've tried lots and lots of different tips for the past couple of years and my latter choice was Granite Pro tips from Stu Green, ADR147 until I got couple of aurora tips. Oh boy!!! These tips are something else and the feel you get from auroras is what ive been looking for for years! In my oppinion and latter observation aurora tips virtually need no bedding in time , tips are hard but not to hard with tremendous amount of grip, quality to keep it's shape at the same time hold chalk better and for longer then any other tip out there. I don't know how Airin has menaged to develop all the good qualities in his tips but all I know he has succeeded in this regard and developed very fine tips ! Obviously all players use different tips makes for different reasons but I highly rate and recommend aurora tips.
Hope it helps And happy potting to you all:snooker::snooker::snooker:

Just put a Mike Wooldridge supertip on, and although I haven't played with it yet I really like the look of it. I've bedded it in by hitting it against a solid wall for 15 mins or so, and it really hasn't deformed at all. This is always a good indication that the tip is going to hold its shape well. The tip also looks as though its going to accept the chald well as well.
I've tried the talisman medium but really didn't like the at all, far too hard for me and didn't hold chalk very well at all.
The pro-granite tips I really liked, but it's so off putting to hear that tinny noise every time I played a shot. Almost thought there was something wrong with my ferrule or the joint.
I have played with BD and Elks for over 20 years but eventually got tired of the inconsistency in my game because of having to change them far too frequently because of them wearing out. Maybe it's just me being too picky!!

I've just put a Mike Wooldridge supertip (the non-laminated ones) on last week, the first time I've tried one. And I agree with jaffa.johnson; they really don't need bedding in. Mine played well from the first shot.
The last 4 or 5 Elks that I tried were all rejects - hit the cue ball once with any sort of off centre striking, and they'd puff up on the side that they'd hit the cue ball, leaving a lop-sided tip that would just get worse and seem impossible to fix. (I'd leave it alone and carry on playing for an hour to bed it in, then carefully file it even again, then one more hit and the same thing would happen).

finally had time to try out the wb hard talisman tip, work has kept me so busy had no time to play snooker, really missed the baize.
anyway after about 6 hours of play i think the tip has finally bedded in, had to shave it down on 3 occasions as i like my tip flush with the ferrule. the 'miss cue' noise i was 1st getting when i started using the tip has virtually gone, yes it sounds different to other tips but its not that bad at all!!!
feel-well i have to agree with every one who has said 'you get no feel from the shot' you literally get no feel from any type of shot you play which is abit disappointing.
grip-well the doc was not wrong the wb does offer more grip playing shots with side-ohhhh boy seemed like the cue ball was dancing on the baize brilliant. same results from playing top spin and screw back was impressed. BUT couldnt play the gentle screw back shots as effectively as i normally could with other tips, found i couldnt grip the cue ball very well with this particular shot, think i just need to get used to the tip.
as for holding the chalk no problems as yet so far as i do tend to chalk between every shot.
over all so far gotta give this tip a 7/10

For a lot of people who don't know, the type of glue you use to stick the tip on, will change the way the tip sounds and feels.
A fast setting superglue will be very brittle and will make the tip seem harder than it actually is, whereas a slow setting glue(like evo stik impact adhesive) will give a softer feel. This is only my opinion but with experience of trying different methods, this is what I've found to be the case.
My own preference(if i have the time) is to use a hard Talisman WB and use evo stik impact to glue it on and leave overnight before shaping."Don't think, feel"
