  • hey doc, is the evo stik impact as strong as super glue once dried???

    • Every bit as strong if not stronger if used properly.
Apply a very thin amount to each surface and leave for about 5-10 mins then apply a little pressure and leave to set.

A fast setting superglue will be very brittle and will make the tip seem harder than it actually is, whereas a slow setting glue(like evo stik impact adhesive) will give a softer feel. This is only my opinion but with experience of trying different methods, this is what I've found to be the case.
My own preference(if i have the time) is to use a hard Talisman WB and use evo stik impact to glue it on and leave overnight before shaping.
or use a gel superglue - same effect.

        • I use loctite ultra gel. Always works a treat for me. I've just received some Baron tips from ADR so will test these out on my next day off work. Which is Friday if i remember correctly.

Note to ADR. I only bought one mate and you sent 3. So if you P.M me your paypal address i'll send funds over for the other 2 you sent.

                  • Ive stopped using superglue gel as i found it goes brittle on Tally tips , i,ve switched to Gorilla superglue impact tough gel , not only find it better but also gives you a little more time to sit the tip correct .

                    • Bought some B D plus buffalo tips a few months back off A D R , and yesterday was a bit bored so took the Tally off , fitted one of these and went for a few frames last night .

Must say they are very nice tips , with excellent grip and chalk retention . Because of the grip i was getting into the white too much on screw and touch shots , but they were nice and solid on long shots .

Had a 60 + 50 + 40 + though so all in all i think they are a very nice tip and would recommend them , and may even stick to them as they felt so nice . Pity they wer,nt available in 10.5 mm .

                      • agree with hotpot. the diamond plus are ace. not quite as much kick or bite as a pro granite, but the amount of feel you get for the lil touch shots is wonderful. one of my fav. tips love them atm aswell. just bought a box off adr a month ago. might get another... haha

these tips present a quandary for me, i always use a harder tip but in all the years i ave been selling them i have never had one person say anything bad about them! the only issue is they are three times the price of elks at trade so when i lost a box or rather royal mail did, recently my nipper had to live on rice and stock cubes for a week! but there is no question if you want a softer old style tip these are totally dominant right now.

yeh i always prefer a harder tip too. like i said, it doesnt hav that bite, but it is still very good.. although i find when played in a lot, they get hard, like other tips, but play more lively? if that makes sense.

                            • It seems a bit secretive regarding the tips that the professionals use, it looks like Mark Selby has a black tip, so probably a kamui. I like to play with a Kamui super soft, but they do go hard quickly like all laminated tips and need the shine filling of every 10 frames or so. Does anyone else feel that its a bit of a secret tip thing with the pros or maybe its an advertising issue.
