  • Just bought a adr soft tip for pool, see whet they like. Blue diamon plus tips are very good, im using that at the moment, good consistant contact, no miscues, holds chalk very well, a good tip.

      • Pool I'm using one of yours Andrew and still love it, got an O'Min red on my snooker cue, most of my other cues have elks on, better than Blue Diamond imo although for me the Buffalo Diamond Plus are my favorite pressed tip

          • I've tried most of them and am seriously thinking about going back to hand selected standard Elks.

            • I thought the Elk Pros had nailed it, but there have been some inconsistencies creeping in. Okay if you are paying 50p a tip for standard, definitely not okay at almost £8 a pop.

              • Go to a shop, press your nail into an elk from a box and see how deep it goes to find the density your prefer. I recommend that you pick the tips that are the hardest this way. Buy half a dozen in one go. Job done, sorted for at least 12mths, maybe 2yrs and you saved a load of money over £8 pro elks, silly expensive lammys or expensive 'super' single layer tips that ain't any better than an elk.

If my mates can make 147s with an elk, so can you. It's all you need (or another single layer cheap tip like a BD or BDP).

                  • Ronnie elk hard here or Dave Coutts supreme. Or just normal selected elks.

                    • Pro granite play like a hard bedded in elk, but straight from the off, best pressed tip I have used( not used many though)
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

                      • Tried a diamond plus and ripped it straight off, thought it was terrible
It's hard to pot balls with a Chimpanzee tea party going on in your head

I found them way too soft but some people swear by them - each to their own I guess.

Do you like soft tips? I get mine from Martin Chetsworth and every one is harder than an elk and incredibly consistent from tip to tip. I know lots of folk sell em on ebay but Martin is one of the cheapest and most trusted. Once played in, they keep their shape and don't need filing loads, unlike elks. I've found they need less filing than a Kamui B Medium, and that was a real surprise, as the lammys are designed to need less work on em.

                            • Kamui black mediums are my favourite by a mile. Wouldn't need to try anything else again. As my last tip experiment proved to be no contest! I could go through a box of elks for a decent one, way before my kam needed replacing!
                              Cheap and Cheerful! 😄
