  • Ideal LED light height

    Hi guys

Hoping someone can help out here

Found the above post from Geoff

Problem I have is room height is under 7 feet. Lets say floor to ceiling height is 6ft 6inches

What issues would I face if the LED light is too close to the table?

Hi there. We have LED panels that I fitted in my local club.

I'm not sure of the exact height from the table, but I will measure next time I am there (which will probably be tomorrow).

I can't help but think it would be far too bright at the height you would be using ?
Here is my club with "normal" height ceiling

                I think so too.

Geoff obviously does a lot of tables and as above says ideal distance is around 5ft

Might have to look into other alternatives.

I have also emailed Geoff about this and also what lighting he would recommend - awaiting response as yet

I have installed flat panel LED's into the suspended ceiling. Only four feet above table. However because the light isn't as concentrated, there is no glare to distract you. Light is spread evenly, getting under the cushions. Can highly recommend. Playing at my club, is now like playing with the table illuminated by candle power.

Any ideas on size of panels and also how many lumens or watts?

Panels are 600x600mm (drop into regular ceiling panels) wattage is very low, only about 40, however don't be deceived by relative low output. The colour output is critical? Any industry that works with colour? Printing, Textiles Cosmetics act, view products under 6500° Kelvin (white light) this gives you a neutral light. The panels I fitted fit give this criteria. Five panels with starters cost me £110. If you don't have a suspended ceiling to drop them into? It's a simple job knocking up a narrow frame to support them.

                        Appretiate the help

I would be going for the Star light thats for sale on the forum. Not sure how many kelvins it is.

But going by what you've said it should be fine at around 3.5/4ft?

Just measured mine. From ceiling to bed of table 4' 2" so if Star lighting are flat panels? Then yes. However with LED strip lighting, I don't believe they will suffice at that height? The reflection given off by the chrome baffle is very intense and in your eye.

Hi..I am currently growing with an LED light, to be exact I am growing with a Kind LED K300l. I was in the same boat as you at first. I started with the light height around 12 inches. I noticed some stress on my plant so I raised it even higher, around 18 - 20 inches. I had it this height until I started flowering. Once flowering begun I brought the light down back to around 12 inches, the plants didn't seem to stress-out and my temperatures remained stable. So in summary, 12 to 18 inches seems to be a good medium. However, this is just for my current light; your results may vary.
