Burnishing the tip

Be careful with getting wax onto the tip, can destroy its playing surface, as the wax will soak into the leather, which will prevent the tip to be roughened up, thus chalk will not stick, also could create an uneven striking surface if the wax has soaked in more one side than the other.

Its a solid wax. And im not that stupid to put it onto the top of the tip, neither do i think anyone else would be

last time I was retipping my bat, I got everything prepared very carefully but then somehow managed to try to glue the new tip on upside-down ...

does that mean I'm stupid totlxtc? or just long sighted and should have put my reading glasses on? or both?

The easiest way to burnish the edge of the tip is use the paper on the block of triangle chalk. It helps to harden the outside if there are any little fibres sticking out and also helps keep the shape.

lol well now you mention it. And no one mentioned about what oil to use! I used castrol GTX on mine.

Back of a sheet of sandpaper works well too.

I use a £5 note because i'm poor........Not sure if there is any truth in the rumour that ADR uses £50's and throws them away after use

That's what i don't understand as the paper is so small! When i use notes i can only burnish the top sides of the tip as i like to taper the tip out from the ferrule slightly, which is why I'm searching for alternatives...

I think your right Neil lol the money he makes out of us poor snooker fanatics, what i heard a quote from adr "Five pound notes are s**** to burnish, i use £50 minimum and then use it for bog roll !"

There is no way ADR re-uses £50's after burnishing ......that would make it 2nd hand toilet paper .

I've only ever seen one £50 note in my life, and it wasn't even mine !!!
