Finally scored myself some Triangle chalk via Seyberts.com and it works like a charm.

i used to swear by dark green for uk8ball, then ran out of it about a year ago. then about a month ago i "rescued" some from my local pool venue (abandoned half used bits i found on a table)... now i cant get used to it again

i have found out though that its the only chalk that i can get to stick to the omin water buffalo tip i've got on my break cue at the moment... the light green makes a nasty squeeking sound when i use it on that!

                    NO.

Like everything man made, man tries to make better...hence the light green and quite 'powdery' triangle chalk.
I read somewhere that the manufacturers of that chalk went away from the darker green, which was more gritty,,,and actually stuck to the tip, because they thought it may help the issue of 'kicks'.
People are always asking me if I have seen any more of the darker stuff...but I think what reserves were out there, have now been used up.

.......we'd better start getting used to the light stuff.

Eh the light stuff was out before the dark!
The dark was only around for short time really.

No the story is this. The original triangle chalk which was slightly darker than the more powedery lighter coloured chalk today had a substance in it that if swallowed was illegal and was dangerous. In this day and age with H&S they had to change the recipe and what we have now is an inferior product but its not because of choice.

8 pages, and no-one has mentioned it !! I use dark green NTC and have done so for over 30yrs.

When I played snooker it enabled me to achieve phenomenal power screw shots in conjunction with a blue diamond tip.

Still use it today on several pool cues, all with BD tips, and the spin I can generate is awesome.

The chalk and the tip have absolutely no relevance to your ability to perform power screw shots. That is down to a good responsive cue and technique, nothing else.

I agree with you cueman. My old cue i could not generate as much spin as i can with my new custom jobbie. Im using the same make of tip and the same piece of chalk. Infact i keep over doing it at the minute as its taking some getting used to. Potting no problem, its the response im getting off the cueball i need to hone in on. On a standard UK pool table from baulk line i can put so much backspin on the ball i can return the ball to baulk before it hits the bottom cushion (Did that for fun)
