experience. glue lines, badge, the suade insides, the corners, the hinges and the buckles etc are all different and i suspect its going to be a lot lighter aswell.
its a very nice case - but not a cheddar in the true sense of the word - can you do me one favour and tell me what it weighs.
Dont understand this remark????
It came from cheddar classic and was made by Dave Johnstone Allen, how is it not a cheddar classic??? There are no glue lines, as it is a single colour case the buckles are different, so what. The catches and hinges are the same,DJA now lives and makes these cues in thailand, MAYBE they dont have the same buckles there??? I dont really think that the buckles make the case. Corners are the same as another 3/4 chedder case I compared it to, I will weigh it for u later on. Which badge are you on about?
Is a john parris cue still a John Parris cue, if the man has never even seen the cue???

what size was it? U must have had some heroin packed inside, the last one I sold weighed about 1.8kg it was a single full length cheddar. Regarding the badge u must be talking about the cc badge, DJA wasnt allowed to use the same badge as it was too similar to coco channels logo, I did always wonder about this before.
If you see that as reason to say its not a cheddar, nobody better buy a mercedes witchout the star on the bonnet! as the ones with the star in the front grill, well they are not really mercs are they???
Any how I like it and everyone's entitled to theyre opinion,
I am sure Crispians cases are not all the same, this is because thay are hand made, very difficult to get them all exactly the same,
What do u think Crispian, wud u be able to move to Thailand and produce exactly the same cases a few years later on after not making any???

sory jon i had emailed ADR earlier on just to ask if he thought it was genuine ? as i thought it looked different to my last cheddar case, as you say the buckles and logo on the handle were what i noticed first ! but my last case was finnished off differently inside where the corners meet ! i think this is what ADR was refering to, on my last case the leather was manipulated in to the inside where as in the pictures you sent it looked like they were cut and pressed/glued in to the inside !
as you say the matierials are bound to be different wherever you go, and the case looks sound so look after it !
No problem Crispian, I dont really think the corners are that different from others that I have noticed, other than a suede pad against the end of the case if they are I dont see that as a problem as a good or bad change either way in the quality just different, and techniques change.
Regarding the weight issue, I cant believe that anybody in they're right mind would make, carry or use a case weighing 5kg, do u know that is the same as 5 bags of sugar!!! I cant have that, sorry Adr. Thnx for all the discussions tho,
Personally the lighter the better for me.
Cheers
All the best
Jon
I see the one you sold also had the leather cut andrew ! not taking anything away from the quality of the cases ! just the one i had off dja did not have a finnish like that. but obviously he did use this tequnique on his cases sometimes.
