how has a nice cue been finished?

I am looking for a snooker cue. could anyone tell me how a nice cue has been finished. thanks very much.

either just oil or oil and wax ... varnished or lacquered cues tend to get sticky sometimes which makes them difficult to slide over your bridge hand consistently ...
