  • Can you judge a cue just by the looks of it?

I ordered a Beyond pro from Ton Praram a couple months back. Today I was sent finished finished pictures by him. Can I judge anything from the pictures alone. I did request him earlier for it to be stiff but not too stiff that it plays like a steel rod, I hope he followed through with the request. Please let me know if I can make out anything lookig at stuff in the pictures like line thickness, straightness and gap, arrow shape, gap or how dark the grains are.

I do think she looks stunning and can't wait to get my hands on her.

That should have a bit of spring in it, chevrons are a nice distance apart which generally means it shouldn't be too stiff. When the chevrons are very close together it usually means the wood has grown slower and is more dense, so much stiffer. The more open ash grain on the back also suggests it should have some flex in it.

All in all, looks a cracker!! .

Noted mate, that was some valueable info. . I hope stiffness suits me. Although I like little stiff cues but not the ones that play like a steel rod.

Yeah. The cue is the best playing cue I ever owned. However it is stiff but not too stiff to what I like the feel of. Everyone who has tried a few strokes with it were amazed by the amount of action and power it can deliver to a shot, so much so that if you aren't used to it it can stun or screw back way too much. Most of these were professional players mainly from DBSA , UP, Pune and banglore.

I got the cue delivered in around 3-4 months. The prices then were lower than they are now . I got case, extensions and other stuff too. Total it cost me around INR 100000. You might have to bribe about 5k to the customs guy too as they withheld the cue so I had go to the customs department near ITO Delhi. On showing the invoice which had asked to be lowered they asked me for the funds transaction record, I told them a friend of mine had gone to Thailand thats when he payed them in cash. I gave them an invoice of around 35-40k. Shipping charges have also gone up now. You can contact them on WhatsApp, they provide complete details, nice people. Unfortunately I no longer have their contact details. Hope this helps.

thanks bro, it is stiff but not as you wanted , but I believe, the spcs you descriped are the best to have, may be it has a bit of spring which makes it perfect.
