  • Robin Scott Cue Green Baize

Hey guys just gotten back into snooker I'm a 6ft3 chap and was after a cue between 58-60 as I heard anything above 60 can get funny.

I've found this cue at green baize and just want an opinion as my budget is only around £120 max but I can't seem to find anything for my specification that will arrive fast..

On the subject of fast arrival are green baize quick delivery? It says 1-2 days and do the cues arrive with a case?

For those wondering why the rush, I have 2 week holidays next week and I'd rather play with the same cue even if it's not great for now

I may be wrong but I believe Robin Scott is one of those Chinese firm that make up an English-sounding name
Still can be a nice cue though.
Only seen one, and for the money, not bad (typical English understatement )
    Up the TSF! :snooker:

Ah I see, tbh the only reason I'm considering this is because every cue in mainland UK seems to be 57" and the ones that aren't are upwards of 200 quid

Know anywhere that's cheap and not 8 weeks like cue craft?

These are pretty decent for the money I know two people who use them and they play well.

Cheers they are well priced and assuming they ship to UK. I'm in two minds if I should get a 58 or 60, ADR147 suggested I get a 58, he is same height as me...

Shipping shouldn't be an issue says UK 8-18 working days. Great value especially if you need a case and extns well cos you get them for only about 20 quid extra. Andrews advice seems sound as I have a mate who is 6"5' used a 60 but then tried. 58 which he could play very well with but found a 59 which suited him even better. So I think you said you were 6"2' I reckon a 58 should be ok. 60 inch cues are like fricking jousting Lance's and you might find space and walls an issue in some clubs.

I'm 6ft3 with long arms but adr said he has 6f6 wingspan and a 58 is alright, would love to try a 59 but guess I'll have to make a decision between 58 and 59 or that Robin Scott Cue which is 58.5

My cue is 58.5 ,I'm just over 6 foot ,when your used to a certain cue size it makes a difference .58 just feels too short .If you had to bin one of these cues I would say bin the 58 and pick one of the other two ,thats just me though and everyones different where they hold the butt end .

Cheers so you reckon the 60" or the 58.5"? I took out 60" using a measuring tape at work and it did seem long but with the club cues my back hand is at the very end of the butt sometimes even few fingers off

Not sure ,thought you were talking about 58.5 and 59 ,60 could work for you ,Vmax on here uses a cue over 60 inch if I remember ,I think he’s round about your height too ,I’m sure he’ll pick this thread up .

Sorry I wasn't clear my only real options are the 58 and 60 from woodcues or take a punt on the 58.5 one from greenbaize. I haven't found one exactly 59 that's not super expensive.

I think I should stop over thinking it and take a punt on one of the cues as I'm not exactly planning to keep it forever, my idea is if I continue playing for more than 2/3 months I'll invest a bit more for a cue that'll last years

If you have long arms then go for the 60 inch cue, you don't have to hold it right at the end if you find it a tad long but you will if you buy a cue that's a tad short.
Speak up, you've got to speak up against the madness, you've got speak your mind if you dare
but don't try to get yourself elected, for if you do you'll have to cut your hair

Hey there cheers, so yesterday I went to Cousins Snooker Club in Holloway London. Amazing club, family run it seems and just very very nice has an old school feel and the tables are in excellent condition, they have 4 pro tables and a Star table which by the looks of it the pockets seemed even smaller.

Anyway they had a great selection of stock cues unlike the Rileys in Victoria and I found that the longer cues I found harder or just weird to cue with and the cue I settled on the most was in between the longest one and the shortest one. I should have brought my tape measure. But all in all I don't think 60" will actually suit me despite my height!

Just an update so my cue arrived and despite being cheap it seems like really nice quality and very sturdy. The only issue is I think it is too long despite being 58.5" just the way i grip the butt (I like to leave a few inches) my bridge hand just feels too far away, I'm thinking if I should give it a try or maybe purchase another one!

Or I might see if the guys down at the snooker club will do a part exchange or something and give me some $ off a cue they have

EDIT: Just another question what is the green baize system, would they be okay with me trying the cue and then returning it? It says try before you buy but idk what that means!

At GB they have a full size table so that’s the ‘try before you buy’ option. Their return policy is that the cue has to be returned within 7 days to get a full refund as long as the cue is returned in the same condition as it was sold.
