  • Larger tip ?

I have a 9mm ferrule on my cue, is their any way it can be made bigger to say a 9.75mm

Try an overhang tip. This method is safe. The other option is to cut the tip end of the cue by an inch or two depending on the required thickness but I won't recommend it.

Cut it and re ferrule it if you don't mind losing an inch or so. Otherwise to extend a one piece requires the adding of 4 new splices or a new shaft or butt if it's a 3/4.
a larger overhanging tip? Nah it will feel alien.

I did that once for a friend of mine. He had a 9mm ferrule and he wanted to go up to a 10mm ferrule. I told him I wasn't capable of shortening the shaft and extending the butt etc, but I could put a new ferrule on for him. So I did that. The ferrule overhung the shaft by half a millimetre all the way around. I just chamfered off the bottom of the ferrule a bit where it met the shaft, and stuck a 10mm tip on for him. I thought it looked horrible, but he was happy with it. Each to their own. lol.

I'm doing another for the same guy on the second cue for him.
cue about 3½ins off the top to put a 10mm ferrule on and you will be surprised how much has to be taken off a cue to go up by even 1/2mm

For that one you've always wanted...

I've often thought about having a tapered ferrule to see if that would work e.g. 9mm base and a 10mm top (tip end).

when looking diwn the cue (sighting) I wonder how much you'd see a 0.5mm or 1mm taper in the ferrule.

if you're careful with brash you can fit a thick walled ferrule and file the base down if you know how by spinning the cue slowly on a bench.

If I get a chance I'll pop one on one of my old club cues.
