everyone has a fetish for some kind of exotic splicing on their cue.

whats your favourite or dream splicing?

i would go for 4 snakewood with green and white veneers on an ebony butt.

I have plans for doing a cue with camphor burl with thick maple veneer and ebony but spliced in a different way than the norm.

Also after some redwood burl and spalted maple or birch.

my favourite cue looks like this:

maple shaft, ebony butt. no splice.

But then, I do fall out of the norm

Ebony with 4 thick maple veneers then 4 reddy-orange cocobolo splices looks boootiful. Also ebony with 4 thin yellow veneers then 4 kingwood splices is very nice. Powerglide connoisseur splicing is great. Simple ebony with a rosewood splice over a white veneer is very classy, too.

But cocobolo is the most beautiful wood in the world, IMO, and over white veneers to show off the grain in the wood ... in the words of the song:"You can't touch this!"

Totlxtc, did you ever finish that cue you were working on? If so, could you post some images of the finished article? It looked good last time I saw it and I'm just wondering what it's like now.

Hi Keith. Ive not done anything to it for a while as been unwell. But will be doing so soon.

Is this the Cocobolo you like? Light on the right, dark on the left...

Dark on the left, dark on the left, dark on the left!!! I'm the one who's jumping up and down, now!! Lol!!

What do you plan to do with that beautiful piece of wood, if I may ask?

That specific piece will be used for a single fron splice, about 10 inches long with a thick maple veneer. Sadly the furthest left piece has alot of sapwood and maybe some use on a small splice at another time. Will have to see what to do with it. The other dark piece I have already cue ready to splice.

Here is my collection at the moment:

I always prefer single splice of snakewood or burrwood with white or red veener.I like more ebony on the butt rather than having four splices.Ebony is a very dense wood so it gives a more natural feel.

Very nice indeed! I'm quite taken with the padauk and the really nice dark zebrano you've got, but what the hell is Pippy Elm Burl? Burl, I know but Pippy Elm?? And I see you've got Pear but for splicing, not a shaft? Nice idea, be interesting to see how that turns out!

I'm sorry to see that you were unwell, I hope you're feeling better now?

Good luck, I hope you master it soon. I do believe that it's quite complicated to do well, though. And yeah, cocobolo rocks!!
