Each to their own. I'm also into cars and build them so spend alot of money on that.

A friend of mine is an avid cue collector whilst another collects pens some of which im sure are worth hundreds.

I like snooker cues, I really do haha

If you like cues, that's great. I also like them. I have five of them.

What I was really trying to say was that, if a player does not have great ability, buying a £2000 cue is not going to be much help to them.

But, if they just like lovely looking cues. That's great. 👍

This is not about the price of a cue.
This is not about small claims courts
This is not about indemnity insurance.
This is simply one bloke saying the guy has bugger up his cue and letting others be aware.

I Keep beating people with £1000+ Parris cues whilst using my £160 cue from James Butters.
I guess it is a bit like cars, they're only as good as the driver

Totally agree. I only end up buying what is considered top end because I Like things like jet bet ebony, even splices etc and happy to pay that premium.

Having said that I have a 370 quid cue from Ruairi McCarroll which has the blackest ebony I've ever seen on a cue and the splices are as even as anything youll ever see.

several years ago, i bought a parris ultimate and sold it straight away because the ebony wasn't as anywhere even remotely to being dark and the splices were off - I had specified this in the notes.

Last week I asked Andy to change the joint on a 3/4 cue recently as he's done multiple of jobs for me. I've always been happy with EVERY outcome of his work!

[This includes jobs when Andy has even tried to talk me out of having any alterations done in certain cases.]

He was a little pissy with his reply and refused to do the work...

At least now I know why.

MESSAGE TO ANDY Your work and your works ability are true and as honest as the day is long. Andy, your work is as good as any other cue maker in England (if not better). All of this without OVER charging for work that merely needs a functional lathe.

              UNLIKE SO MANY OTHERS.

I missed this post 😁 It's pretty self-explanatory. If you have a problem with a professional service you deal with it via the professional channel which is a court. Not by sharing the experience on every social media channel you can find to try to damage his business. You started your post by saying you were not looking for any kind of recompense but intended to share the experience on social media.

When you have a problem with a professional transaction you deal with it in the same way and keep it out of forums where it benefits no-one. I'm disappointed a thread with a title like this is still here. I don't know anyone involved I just think there are better ways of resolving issue like this.

With all due respect, its my right to deal with it how I wish and based on my judgement.. Of course posting on a forum benefits someone. It benefits the users of the forum who come seeking guidance and advice. I I came on this forum and read numerous reviews about Andy Travis and his work. Based on what I found on this forum, I decided to use his services. What's wrong with that? Just because you don't like it?

As you said, I don't any recompense so why would I bother with court? You like to speak things so black and white because it suits your point/agenda when actually many things aren't so simple. So you're ok with accepting the good reviews on forums on social media but have a problem with the bad ones?

If he had rectified the problem in the first instance instead of blaming me for it and denying everything, I would've made a post about how good he has been in dealing with my cue and rectifying problems. I'm sure you'd have no issue with this but the moment its the other way round, you want to push this whole "court" thing. Good job lol

Well I'm glad your experiences has been good but it seems like he has a man that can do no wrong even when he has lol. Clearly not as honest as your think given his denial. lol

It's not that. But a public forum has become a place that can affect a person's livelyhood.

So if a forum has become the place to address bad customer service. Then it can also be a place to address good customer service.

                        NOTE:
The majority of cue makers are independent. So public criticism can end their work, unlike e.g. M&S or ASDA.

TRUST ME. If you're complaint went as far as never going back to A.T. to do a job. That alone has it desired affect.

Nothing personal thai_son just my opinion

Ask yourself that before you come onto a forum telling people how to deal with a problem. I accept going to court is the option you see fit but you can't seem to accept mine and because I disagree with your constant pushing, you're now asking if this is a playground. Stop taking something that has nothing to do with you so personally.

I'm not taking it as personal so sorry if I came across that way. Sometimes tones etc get misread when reading text offline.

I mean it when I say I am glad your experience has been good and it was the point I was trying to say to MrRottweiler. If a forum can be a place for positive review, it should also be a place for negative. But he doesn't seem to understand or accept that because it can "damage" a reputation.

Completely buy your point about a big company vs an individual trader which is why I was shocked to be treated this way. I've had poor customer service from big retail companies from employees who are only there to make money and don't care about the company. Andy on the other hand, given I had been personally messaged him, I am disgusted with how he treated me.

Yes, it is can affect his livelihood but this is more reason for him to represent himself and what he does well. As you said - you received a "pissy" reply from him. Goes to show that the experience he's had with me, he's throwing his attitude onto other people. Understandable? Yes. Justified? No. Because if it had been someone else who didn't know why, they would go elsewhere for business.

                              That's all fair game.
NIt sure why A.T. replied to my enquiry in that way, but we're all human.

Ultimately, you were the paying customer and the customer is ALWAYS right imo

I think there white lines are part of the ebony as can come with white, purple and sometimes brown.
