Squeaky wooden thread

hi all,

I’ve acquired an old 80s cue with a wooden joint. It’s in as new condition, but the joint is squeaky. I’m wondering what the best stuff to put on it is? Beeswax, furniture polish? Or could I put linseed oil on the thread and let it dry?

I used wax on mine. Only need a tiny bit.
