I get it , the mark up is big .
I also fly fish , it’s the same with premium brands who have their rods made in China for a low cost price . They then advertise it as a premium brand and sell their top range line with premium fittings etc for an astronomical price .
It’s market forces at play and price is driven by customer demand .
It’s a certain type of buyer who craves that type of product and will pay whatever . Most consumers however either can’t or won’t pay that dollar for a product .

That doesn’t make that particular business a ‘cowboy’ business by any means . It’s just a business that is capitalizing on consumers who are stupid enough to pay that sort of money .

      In regards to Lava wood , I haven’t a clue .
Im lucky to see any type of wood these days

Nevertheless a cue like that with 4 splices plus the rosewood made by an English cuemaker would cost £1500 or more and you'd have to wait a year or more for it.
That shaft looks lovely - lovely straight grain down its length.
Shafts like that don't grow on trees you know! 😃

£1500 and a year wait roflmao.
We would do that to whatever spec the customer wanted in 6 to 8 weeks for a third of that.

That alone maybe, but considering he lies through his teeth saying he pays 7 8 9 hundred or whatever for Thai cues which i can get for a third of his claims and that he sponsors at least 1 top player wherin as part of the sponsorship the player has to illegally raffle off so many cues per year. Its that which makes him a cowboy in my book.

I’m not sure raffling off cues is illegal 🤔..

If you have proof that there has been some lying going on then of course you’re entitled to feel the way you do especially if you’re in the same type of business .
Myself and others on here have had nothing but good customer service from that particular retail outlet and as consumers that is how we judge retail business along with price points for our budget .
Most consumers are just not interested in what the cost price of a particular product is tbh.

I would also say your customer service skills might need a bit of tweaking after seeing your response to Mark regarding his missing chalk but something tells me your not bothered 😉

For my own curiosity I wondered if raffles were regarded as gambling and needed a licence, much to my surprise they do, even little ones but there are different rules depending on the size and money brought in by them.
No doubt HMRC would want it's pound of flesh from money earned from them as well.
To be honest, I'm not fussed if folk are raffling cues, no one is forced to buy a ticket and it may be the only way some players could afford a "top end" cue. For me it feels a bit of a tacky, grubby way to sell a cue if it's done soley for making more profit but that's just my personal opinion.

Yep, I guess it’s depends on the circumstances of the raffle and what’s happening to the proceeds.
Not illegal though but could be breaking the law if you don’t declare etc .

Next time I’m in my social club and they do a raffle I’ll ask them if they have a license ….. I’m sure they will love that 🙂

Nowt wrong with my customer service skills mate. The bloke has never ordered any chalk from me. He is just a lying turd

Online raffles are illegal unless a free entry is offered, licences are only ever granted to registered charaties and the gambling commission has the power to impose fines of up to £5000 and a year behind bars.

Money raised from them is illegal income so the inland revenue can do them for money laundering if the proceeds go through their accounts and for tax evasion if it doesn't.

Many of the online raffles are done by using the football cards where folks choose a team and the winning team is scratched away.

Jonny Carr has done thousands of them directly and via his mates, for his cues all of which are made in china.
If you look on my facebook page you will see a video of how these cards are fiddled and another proving his cues are chinese made.

That's the mark up that you've always been paying, be it chips, socks, cars or snooker cues!

It's just a case of whether you are prepared to pay for this stuff or make your own chips, socks, cars, or snooker cues...

Nearly as ridiculous as the mark up on the biggest con snooker has ever seen Taom chalk made for less than 10p sold for £18
