  • Travel and cue collecting.

I am able to travel a little more freely now. I came up with the idea of buying a cue from each country I travel too. Was wondering whether a thread, or directory of manufactures in each country existed (especially ones where I can see the process or discuss - I don't mind waiting times etc for shipping after/or if I found one directly from a shelf)

I play snooker mostly, but also Chinese 8ball/9ball

Countries I may travel to in the near future:
Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, Korea, Cambodia, New Zealand, Australia

Naturally, add any from anywhere in the world. It's always interesting.

Side note, any places of note in Malaysia, Japan or Korea? As I will probably go to one of those first.
Also, any in China welcomed, but I am aware of quite a few here.

A few I have made a note of over the years - these AFAIK are still trading:

    Australia - Zaks Custom Cues
Thailand - lots, Mastercue, Maxminus, Ton Praram II

I am sure Korea and Japan do have them but probably mostly US Pool

Here are some others to keep an eye out for that (IIRC) are no longer making cues but you may find one or two

Australia - Andy Bream, Carl Aranda, Peter Hanley

Korea have some pool/carom cues from what I've observed the few times I have been there. Not sure if there is anything quality. Japan will probably have some high-quality inlayed pool cues (I collect pens and imagining an urushi cue is probably way funnier to me than it should be). Interested to see if I can find a snooker table in Japan. Took me an eternity to find one in Korea.

Thailand has a big reputation (I just bought a Niche cue that plays well) - would be cool to observe some of the process.

Will keep half an eye open for Aussie cues, haven't planned my trip fully there yet.

      Thanks for the reply
