  • 1 piece, 3/4, 2 piece, jointed above the splices or jointed through the splices.

What do you prefer and why?

Personally, I like the feel of a 1 piece cue but the practicality of a 3/4 cue, so I think the best compromise is to have a 1pc cue jointed above the splices.

    What do you think?

1 piece all the way for me. I had a 1pce Powerglide Connessieur for 16 years which was my ideal cue, ash shaft, 15oz, thin butt, 9.5mm tip - it was perfect. Shame that somebody stole it I've tried numerous 3/4 cues from all the top names and none of them gave me the same feel as my Powerglide 1 piece. Btw, if anybody has a 1 pce ash Connessieur for sale let me know. Not the Rex Williams model, i've photoshopped the badge that mine had onto one that was on ebay.

I prefer one piece, cues, supposedly cues can be jointed with no ill effects these days but i still prefer the feel of a one piece, dont like lugging them around though!!

Ill chuck in my usual bit:
'If a cue was any good the bloke who made it wouldn't saw it in half' quote me Dad.

It's true that 3/4 have the disadvantages of both 1 and 2 piece cues. They're both bulky to carry and have no feel.

I say if you want a good cue go for a 1 piece, if you have to carry it a lot go 2.
I suppose if you play pool in a tight space a 3/4 with a mini butt that fits the shaft is handy.

I do sometimes get ****ed off with carrying my one piece. Carried a mates two piece last week forgot how easy it is.

1 piece for me. Dont like most 3/4 cues, i find the mass of the joint causes a pendulum like effect in the horizontal plane when im cueing leading to inaccuracy (or put better, im more inaccurate than usual!) This is probably just me though! Plus i dont like a heavy cue, id rather have a 2 piece than a 3/4.

I recently purchased an old 2 piece Peradon with a wooden screw joint, the cue needs a little work (re-finishing and ferrule size reducing) but is a decent enough piece of ash and it might end up being my main cue.

def has been a one piece for me, up until recently found a 3/4 wooldridge.
near exact same spec, lucky me and feels like my one piece, bargin 2.

only changed due to didnt want to butcher my one piece with a joint and getting sick of lugging it about

There's a 1pc, 16oz connoisseur just come up for sale oneBay by Idid150, the guy with a huge collection. Worth a bid? You might also contact him to see if he's got any others, perchance at 15oz?! I've sent you a PM just in case, mate.

Thanks for the heads-up Keith. I'll email the seller and cross everything he has one the same as my stolen cue.

No probs, Fredkite. It's a strange coincidence, though. If I hadn't posted this thread, and you hadn't replied in detail about your stolen cue, I'd never have known you were looking for such a cue. And on the same day, one comes up for sale on eBay!! Sometimes things turn out nicelyl, eh?
