  • Hartley cues

ive come across a “Hartley” cue - does anyone have any info on them? Looks to be a 90s cue by the look of it, but quite decent quality?

could be related to the Hartley "coffin" lights, i.e. if you buy the lighting system you get some cues as well

    any pictures?

It sounds as though it could be from "L. E. Hartley" who was operating in the mid-1980s from March in Cambridgeshire supplying billiard tables (all sizes) which he advertised as "made to order" He was also advertising cues. In 1989 the address changes to "Thatcher's Lodge, Hook Road, Wimblington, Cambs.," but he is still trading in the same business at this time. I have no record of his company after this date.

        Do you have any photos?

So doubtful related to the V Hartley as the writing style would have been the same I would have thought.

I'm not familiar with his cues, so cannot say for certain it is this maker. You might try a Facebook forum which specialises in vintage cues, who may have an expert familiar with his work. This advert mentions that he supplies two-piece cues but the photo isn't clear enough to provide a match to your cue.

Thanks both, probably made by LE Hartley in the 80s or early 90s. It’s not arrived yet. Machine spliced and an old 2 piece, by thought it looked nice...

Mahogany cue case would be quite wild!

Just uploading a few pics of the cue now it's finally arrived - quite nice. Ebony butt i'm assuming, nicely finished....needs a clean and an oil to bring it back to its best...
