Pros:
1. No maintenance required at all. Just wipe with alcohol and it's smooth as new. No need for gloves
2. Extreme durablity compared to wood products
3. 2pc carbon cue. Provided with joint protection caps. Fits the boot perfectly. I leave it in the boot of my sedan
4. Rigid with a little bit of elasticity. Perfect for pool and extreme power shots.
5. Low deflection
6. Weight can be adjusted with easy tools sold separately
7. Swappable shaft. Buying another shaft and you have the opportunity to experience different tip sizes or just have a redundancy in case of tip issues.
8. Solid build with life time warranty.
9. Friendly and helpful customer support. Keeps their words. 2 month production time with tracked DHL worldwide delivery
Cons:
1. Very rear-biased weight distribution.
2. Still feels like a tube. I just cannot get used to it. Little cueing response. But it feels great playing pool.
3. Low deflection is evident but not a magic, at least insufficient for long pots with lots of side. I did a little test with it. Cloth unknown. Ball set Aramith Superpro 1G. Chalk Taom V10. Tip Go Tip Mid (default). 1/2 side, power shot from the line to top cushion. Average 21cm deflection.
4. Joint for extensions is Bullet. Go Customs extension are of fixed length (10cm 80EUR, 20cm 90EUR, 30cm 100EUR and 40cm 110EUR).
5. Sounds poor, "bonk"
AFAIK Go Customs is the only carbon cue manufacturer have dedicated snooker cues available. I played with the Go Customs snooker cue since I received it. The purchasing experience was quite pleasant as the business owner (Goran) replied emails in fast and informative fashion. I feel guilty, but have to say, it's another "I just cannot get used to it". It cues like a rigid tube without the solid response of reaction force like wooden cues, though modern carbon cues (including Go Customs) have improved a lot with modifications like foam injection. I had proper cue ball reactions, but without consistency and confidence, as I cannot feel the reaction force from the counterforce. I was actually surprised that the cue ball action was so amazing when the feeling was quite awful.
The concept of low deflection is adopted from pool. Basically the formula of LD is low end mass with high shaft and ferrule rigidity. Carbon cue with ivorine ferrule is far more drastic LD-ish than the "minor" improvements like titanium ferrules on convention snooker cues. But snooker tables are larger and snooker balls are lighter. Testing deflection on snooker table with snooker balls like those pool cue tests rendered all cues terrible. The deflection was HUGE measured at the top cushion. No "control group" tested as club cues varies. I think I can adopt the "standardized" testing procedure from the pool cue testers on Youtube when I have my snooker room set up. It would be No.10 cloth on a brand new Star tournament table with an overhead camera. I have 2 orders of JP ultimate and 1 order with Mike, which will be proper test subjects.
In one word, no magic snooker cue that can play power shots at a distance on snooker table, with lots of side without significant compensation.
But it's the only commercially available carbon snooker cue (tip size 9/9.25/9.5/10 mm, length 57-59'', weight 16-25oz, 2pc only). The utility was awesome. Leave it in the boot and you're good to play anywhere any cue sport. It's basically wrap-proof, dent-proof, maintenance-free and always smooth like silk. Wiping with alcohol is all it needs. 2pc is also good to be fit in 32'' luggages. It's built for quality. I'm satisfied with the detail. But for sth at the price league of handmade custom cues, the material is not appealing enough. I expect something looks fancy like the carbon fiber tripods (Really Right Stuff and Gitzo) . I'm not into the material much but I don't think the carbon fiber the cue using is outstanding.
Regardless of its price tag (800EUR + extension ~100EUR each), it's a decent cue for its utility and performance in pool. It feels awesome for pool. The response was acceptable for pool. But for snooker purpose, due to its poor feeling, plus its price tag, emm...
I'll keep it.
