  • Who uses this joints?

I have a nice, umarked snooker cue. The shaft is quite nice and stiff with four ebony splices and the butt is from one piece, might be cocobolo.

So the cue looks a bit like a marriage and I try to find out who could be the maker.

Does anybody know who has used or uses this type of joint?

    Thank you, folks...

Well, I suppose there are lots of makers using this type of joint since my cheap BCE heritage cue has just about the same...

I was just about to say its a very common quick release joint found on many chinese cues as well as mass produced so i suppose it could have been used by anybody.

          Could very well be
          http://www.craftsmancues.com/acatalo...ini_butts.html

But it think its quite a smiple and reasonably common design. Craftsman are the only ones i can think of that make a quality cue using that joint though.

Edit: Mastercue joints look similar too but the pictures arn't brilliant though that might only be the mini butt not the main joint.

Craftsman cue seems to be the right guess.
Also the shape of their splices are similar to the cue I have.
            Thank you for the input.

Interestingly the only non badged cues i've seen have all been craftsman. Do they forget to put badges on or something?

You can ask for a cue to be unbadged when it's made and some makers will do this; others will not, as they want their work to be known. Lavachild's cue is an unbadged Mastercraft and the same company made a cue for a pal of mine with a 27.55mm butt and a low butt joint at 6" and the cue was left unbadged because the chamfer was so slim.

I was told that my cue has been given to a snooker hall boss from Alex Higgins...
Believe it or not... I am not sure if I do...

Were you able to negotiate the price down from what he originally wanted? If the answer is yes, I don't think it's a true story, however ...

No I wasn't. But it was not that expensive. And there will never be light in that story.

Have I mentioned that the butt is one piece of cocobolo?
                      Are you interested, Keith?

I would not be that expensive...
I planned to refurbish it a bit because the shaft is a bit green from chalk and the butt should be polished.
But I know myself. At the end I will not do it...

How do you people find these things??? I've never been offered a decent cue in my life, never seen one at a car boot sale, charity shop or anything. Everyone i know with a decent cue uses it to play snooker
