Good tip Bad tip???

I recently fitted an Elkmaster 9.5mm tip to my sons cue (new, old cue) and i find that even though he dosen't hit it really hard it goes out of shape quickly and develops a flat top. I usually have to reshape it every time we go.
Is this a bad tip? how often do you seem to file yours? I found mine to bed in after a couple of games and after initial shaping have only touched it up, lol, once or twice.

Smack it with a cue ball for a few mins, sand it up and try it out for a frame or two. If it still loses shape, remove and replace.

And for dear sake, don't smack the tip with the butt resting on the floor. Keep the cue vertically suspended with your free hand (gripped near the tip) in the air to minimise impact.

done that and no i didnt leave the butt on the floor and no its made no difference, ill have to replace sometime soon
i fancy trying one of those supertips but may be a little too hard for my lad.

try using the red omin's there quite hard for the 1st week but once they are bedded in there great and hold there shape superb imo.

You should try using the kamui (soft).
It feel just like a well clamped BD tip without the need to clamp.
It hold shape and chalk really well.
Tip is definately money well spent.

I also dont get much reaction to screwing the ball, what i intend as a deep screw often turns into a stun!!! dont forget im not good by any standards but im sure if you hit the white below centre very firmly and follow through with the cue it should generate enough backspin to move the ball !!! I see some people do bananas like sunny and im so envious how do you do it????
I suppose its like doing a wheelie or a stoppie on a motorbike once u get the basics you just practice lol but you dont drop your mates bandit of course

Best case scenario is its all the tip, cloth and balls fault but the obvious one is its just me

I had a fireblade and could wheelie that and was showing a mate how to do it on his bandit but hit a pothole, got a wobble and binned it.
He didnt do too badly either no pain and loads of gain, as well as the insurance he got £550 for new leathers from the council after his solicitor sent them a letter.

With all the crap tips going around at the moment may i suggest before you put on a new tip put the tip in a vice and tighten it just enough as to squeeze the tip flat and leave it like that over night and then put it on...i do this and it cuts down playing in time with a new tip...it is already compressed and not as soft.

You could microwave the tip on high for 30 seconds.
That firms them up a bit.

Ha ha i know he was, if i wanted to microwave it on the cue i would have drilled a 10mm hole in the microwave door.. Im an engineer me you know
