Love that Phut... just so satisfying, you play a brilliant shot cueing right near the blue with the mini butt, then you stand up triumphant and "phut"... ahhhhh
Dandy, don't you have a WPT with an airlock?
Because I have mine down to an art form, it's 5 turns (of about half turn each, as far as I can turn it without letting go) then pull the butt off... The faster you pull them apart the louder the "phut"...
Thats my only consideration with the 1Klik, having never tried it... That it doesn't go "Phut".
yep, you are spot on RG ... I play snooker with a "Welsh Dragon" from www.WelshPoolTrading.co.uk ... she's a lovely cue, I love her to bits and it's not her fault I'm so crap ...
I do a 1Klik vacum type joint for a European custom cuemaker, this also makes the 'phut' sound, maybe I should let people have it as a butt joint?
:snooker:
well yes Stan, there's nothing wrong with more phut although it seems only me and RG enjoy it - I guess it gives us both confidence which is very important ....
I am not knocking it either. As I havn't tried it, and I doubt I will as I don't have the skill and material to put one in a cue for testing purposes like Mike has. And If I was to order a cue I would stick with the cue makers prefered joint. If I came across a cue with your joint then I would love to try it and see for myself. But I doubt I'll get the opportunity unless the joint becomes hugely popular. But I still stand by what I said earlier.
I don't mean to sound like I am 'having a go'. I think I would be more interested in your extensions if I am honest.
Hi Neptar
I know you weren't 'having a go' if you get chance try the joint.
The extensions are available from Tony Wilshaw, B and W and Craftsman.
I am busy with pool cues at the moment, but when I get chance I will show to more cuemakers and dealers to get more people to stock.
Stan
Haha, you could always slip a gun down the back of your pants, so when you stretch for that awkward red, your opponent gets a quick glimpse. That would certainly scare the .... out of them. But still I have images of some Mafia style bloke walking into a club with a 1klik joint. And as he puts it together, the whole club goes silent.
great idea neptar ... except ... the pub I play UK 8ball has CCTV absolutely everywhere ... it's a condition of their licence ... it's linked to the Police Station ...
it's not a rough pub so I don't know if every pub in the country has to have CCTV linked to the cop shop ... or whether the licensing magistrate in Staines has friends in the CCTV installing business ...

well Stan ... that is a difficult question ... as you know both me and RG love the "phut" of a vacuum joint ...
but I guess, if you take an existentialist viewpoint, both of us have to love the "phut" because otherwise we can't find any meaning in life ... what else can we love? Life has to have a meaning and that meaning is "phut" ... well for the moment anyway ...
but it could change ... a 1Klik 1/3 sounds equally as frightening as a "phut" ... after all, RG, you have to admit it's only you or I who can hear it - but that doesn't mean the "phut" does not exist ...
on a more secular note, haven't CueCraft been fitting cam-joints to their cues for years? not 1Klik which I'm convinced are better but nevertheless an "axis" lock rather than a "face" lock ...
I'm not an applied engineer but I'm not convinced by earlier postings that say the joint is ineffective because there's no face to face pressure ...
I'm not an applied engineer but haven't you got to look at the direction and amount of the force ... Fourier Transforms and all that?
I can see no reason why an axis lock can't be as good or better as a face lock ... well unless we're thinking about the shockwave down the length of the cue (ball -> leather tip -> wood -> joint -> wood -> player -> feel of shot) ...
but surely, if anyone is that much concerned about the feel of the shot, they should be playing with a one-piece cue and not arguing which joint is better than the other joint?
so Stan, what I think I'm trying to say is I think your 1Klik joint is cool ... but if you could come up with a 1Klik that "phuts" too, you'd definitely be onto a winner ... me and RG would buy one if our pocket money permits ...
ive just realised that i play with a 1klik joint,
never new til i read this thread, came across a very nice b n w cue which i use for pool and small table snooker. somewhere in this thread mentioned b n w usin their joints (one off or for good i just dont know) but my cue plays really nice.. once the butt just fell to the floor for no apparent but perhaps that was my fault?...
How did your butt just fell onto the ground?
That sounds very odd. Why wouldn't it do so right after you jointed the cue?
Ive been experimenting and i finally got to try to 1klik and i quite like it. I made a test mule for it and the joints are exposed so i can see everything that is happening. Joint was tapped and then screwed and glued. Im going to try them first off with extensions as i do still prefer a screw join on a cue itself. But the quick on and off with extensions appeals to me. Stan id be interested to see the vacuum version.
