    Can somebody tell which kind of burr wood is it? TIA

    Hi Asi,

    Can't really tell from that image, but it isn't pretty is it.

    I'd guess it's probably one of the many Australian burrs, although as I say, I can't be sure.

          I guess you have to be in Bangkok with some "chemicals" within your body to buy it...Anyway, as one of my cues family, we call him the "special one".

              It looks like a stabilised amboyna burl with spalting. Sometimes you see them also with sapwood which means you get the colour wood and the sapwood as a burl.

              You can see it here on this pen....

                      I found the source - its called Chechen Burl - Mexican wood.
                      At least the name is nice
