It's not an original as it's double hand-spliced, the ash looks new and the dark wood around the badge doesn't look like snakewood or thuya burr, but I don't know what it is, so it looks like a cue someone's made up and perhaps added the badge, which hasn't been perfectly put in, but the photos aren't clear enough for me to tell you more. We need an expert opinion here. Help, guys!!Last edited by KeithinFrance; 7 March 2009, 02:56 PM.Il n'y a pas de problemes; il n'y a que des solutions qu'on n'a pas encore trouvées.

If its not a real one someone is paying a lot for it, I bet they wont be too pleased when they find out. The seller also claims not to know anything about cues but as anyone who uses ebay knows you search similar items first to get an idea if it is valuable or not. He is also telling you he cant answer any questions about it due to only getting back from a business trip after the item has finished, so he wont have to lie about the authenticity of the cue.
I am probably a million miles out with my columbo-esque investigation but i have fun doing it.
Please dont let it put you off buying it as i really have no idea. the badge does look wonkey tho and it does look quite new.

am not interested in buying but have a small knowledge of cues[sometimes this is a bad thing and is why i asked other forum members for their views] i have understood that mannnocks despite being b&w,s most expensive cue were machine spliced and mainly pearwood shaft.2 things that this cue does not have.it looks hand spliced and to have a newish ash shaft. dont get me wrong it may be a great cue in its own right but the only mannock bit about it is the name on the badge!

Yip, it's not an original, alright. Mannock's were pear, but also maple and ash shafted, but this one does look too new to be a "real" one. You're right about the machine splicing as well. The secondary splicing was 4 tulip hand splices then a front splice of snakewood or thuya burr. This one has the tulip but the front splice looks like ebony to my eyes. It's a strange one! As you say, it may be a fantastic player, but it's not worth Mannock prices.Il n'y a pas de problemes; il n'y a que des solutions qu'on n'a pas encore trouvées.
