  • Good day goes bad.

Well where do I start, I got up this morning and looked outside to a lovely bright day, wife and son are going out later on so ill have the whole day to myself. Did a bit in the garden and arranged a game of snooker for the afternoon, everything is ticking over smoothly....Until the post comes and to my horror I find out I’m made redundant. No big surprise really engineering is on its arse at the moment, most of my workmates were made redundant in Jan so at least I got a couple of months extra pay. I decided to still go and play snooker rather than moping around the house alone, so cue in car and off I go, I get as far as the cash point to find it’s not working, so jump on the motorway and go to a bank near where I’m playing, cant park near the bank so just park round a corner up a side street. At the bank I see an old friend who I worked with years ago while serving my time and chatted for about 10mins before going back to my car to find the back door window busted and my cue gone!!!
I am devastated, I loved my cue, it felt just right and with the redundancy letter this morning feels like a right kick in the balls. Just tried the insurance and the excess on my policy is slightly more than the cue and case cost plus I would lose my no claims bonus, well its protected but it still goes up if you have a claim...what’s the point. Looks like I’m cue sharing and dole queuing for the foreseeable future.

phone the police and get them to check nearby CCTV. I know it's a side street and all that but there could still be CCTV overlooking that area. Furthermore, if CCTV is not overlooking that area and the ******* who nicked your cue went into town or an area with CCTV then he'd be hard to miss

Im in commercial vehicles Rob, its quite grim for all aspects of commercials as with the recession nobody is buying anything so less need for the transport. I dunno bout electronics but i wish you well. I dont think its a good time to get a job in any field at the moment but it is a good time to have a job

Thanks for that ericgb i might take you up on that kind offer, im going to try my house insurance on monday, my wife said she insured items away from the house too or something to that effect, she's good like that. fingers crossed

Its only last week i gave my old cue away to a young lad at the club, his dad couldnt afford to get him his own but could afford to prop the bar up nearly every night. I thought it was a good deed and WAS a believer in what goes round etc...still it made the young lads night.

Well in apparently a lot of the electrical and electronic engineers are reaching retirement age, so a lot of places are looking to recruit. All of the lecturers agree its a good time to go into electronics too. Its a very strange situation for us, because you would think it would be very tricky to find jobs but fingers crossed i will be able to find somewhere i like in the summer.
We have insurance for items outside of our house, because my dad left our video camcorder on a bench when i was around 8. Ever since then hes made sure we have it.

That's a really ****ty day, alright. I feel for you, man. I hope things'll get better, soon. It was a nice deed to give your cue to the young guy, so you've got some good karma coming, alright.

dam that is bad man. u should check round the local clubs and see if anyone is using the cue? or see if its on ebay or for sale anywhere because im sure thats what they are likely to do.
                      wooooooooo snookerrr

I got my cue back this morning, long story but a mate of mine lives next door but one to the sod who had it. his dad was straight tho and took £50 from him for the window and couldnt apologise enough but pleaded with me not to tell the police. I did agree, he was a nice guy and as his son was only 14 it would have been him who got all the hassle. Im going soft,

I'm in for the meeting about my redundancy on tuesday too they have done me for absence over the last 3 years even though i haven't had a day off in the last 5 and that was only 3 days for the death of my nan, so theres a chance i might win my case, heres hoping.
