  • Good specs for a beginner!?

So i decided to go for a Mastercraft Retribution, and i'm wondering if these specs suits a beginner?

    2pc center jointed
    Ash shaft
    57,5 inches in length
    9,5mm tip (maybe 9,25mm)
    29,5mm butt diameter
    17,5 ounces in weight

I understand alot of these things are personal preferences but maybe there are things that are general for beginners to think about.

that all seems pretty average like you said it all comes down to personal preference as you play more snooker you may decide you want a heavier cue or a smaller tip but it all comes with time so your current cue is basically the standard which is good.
Age:17 full time snooker player hoping to get somewhere in the future!

Remember, it is not about what beginners would choose and what professionals would choose. You may just want a standard cue until you understand exactly what you want, but another beginner may prefer a different cue, it's personal preference.

yeah sounds ok, all pretty much standard. possible go for a 3/4 length rather than a centre joint though, as general consencus is that theyre nicer to play with (iven if just because the joint isnt likely to rub your chin)

I choosed center jointed cue for convenience. I play a lot of pool and getting a 3/4 jointed snooker cue means i have to get one more case. I have room for one more cue in my poolcue case so center jointed it is.

If i keep playing snooker alot and later decide to get a new cue, i will know better what i want.

i will go for these specs now and hope for the best.
