My current cue has quite a big warp in it. when I roll it on the table its like rolling a banana!..
Having said that it doesn't really affect me most of the time because I always hold the butt in the same position, (with the flat bit close to the end of my fingers as i feel more comfortable about gripping it here) and warp will be going downwards.
The only time I feel this can affect me is when I am cueing off the cushion because I hold the cue further up the shaft. The only way I recognise I am not hitting in the usual position is with the grain on the cue. I then turn the cue in my hand which is probably why off the cushion is the worst part of my game
This has put me off a few times now which is why I have ordered a new cue

I agree with trev1 but as he knows there are ways to prevent this happening as much before a cue is made. The reason wood is left a long time to settle is that it does warp (after temp change sometimes) however; It is my understanding that if you leave the wood for a while to settle it will have already warped almost as much as it is likely to and then the warp if any can be taken out before the shaft is turned down to its final stage on the lathe.
Some cue makers follow this important process and this is one of the reasons why I say British cue makers are better cue makers than others because they understand this process. A reputable cue maker will take time to follow this process, unlike some mass produced cue makers that might just wap em together asap.
How long are you waiting for you cue?
All good things come to he who waits.:snooker:
