hi tmcthree, it took a while. I guess I waited 2 months and I must admit I almost couldn't wait for it anymore... but I am so happy with the cue now, I really don't mind the time it took to make it.
just keep in touch with David, I'm sure he'll be helpful.

I've got a mastercraft cue, nice cue, well made, but a tiny bit too whippy for me. think theres still pictures of it on theyre website under "custom cues"... its the one with a zebrano but and olive wood splices.
took about 6 weeks from ordering it iirc.
Dave is a lovely chap, very easy to deal with and will doo pretty much whatever you want at a reasonable price.

Hows the quality. I've searched posts on here and the quality control appears to be an issue for a lot of people who bought cues from there. Also Phil, did they do something when sending your cue in regards to taxes? I see that you are not a native of the UK like me, and all that is really stopping me from buying a cue is the delivery price and after that, duty tax.
I've talked to other cuemakers and they've said that they can send the package in a way that taxes are minimized.

hi, about taxes: as a non-EU citizen of course I had not to pay the usual british tax. so that's that. but I had to pay Swiss custom taxes and that's the norm, again because Switzerland is not an EU country (sometimes I even think, thank God it's not...). that was for my cue about £20. because that tax is estimated from the invoice that has to be included with the package you can not really deal around that. a possibility is a fake invoice and/or label the package as a gift. but customs are not stupid. and let's get one thing clear: if customs have to open a package with a cue, dear god, think about how they care about packages, how they open them (knifes...) and do not care really. nope, I would not take the risk for a fine cue.
I do import a fair amount of film music CDs from the States throughout the year and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. so it's always a bit of a risk really. There were packages where I had to pay additonal fees because of a not detailed enough invoices or what the customs thought were items with more value.
my opinion is: a cue is something you will play with for a long time (usually), so what the heck about taxes! safe transportation and no one's touching it. so I'd go with a correct invoice any time again.

5 weeks seems perfectly enough time to me though. Perhaps if they are particularly busy you might have to wait a week or two extra but in general 5 weeks seems about right.
In the end I ordered my cue custome made from welshpooltrading, It took an extra week or so to arrive because he had a lot of orders in at the time but I kept in touch and he got my cue to me for my birthday when i was given it
It might seem like a long time now but in the end you get something you will treasure adn really dont mind that it took a while to arrive.Last edited by RGCirencester; 1 May 2009, 09:14 PM.sigpic A Truly Beakerific Long Pot Sir!
